grouse has officially been titled the lower mainlands shittiest mountain by the georgia straight. not only that theyr park is gonna suck this year for 10th straight year in a row. thats even longer than cypress!!
why dont we all recognize grouse mountains accomplishment and never go there again.

can you please click on the log out button on the top left side of the screen and never return to newschoolers again. we dont need this kind of hate here

^like
^^skiings dumb. therefore skiing needs to be made fun of so it doesnt take itself so seriously and keep recreating itself as a try hard jock geek sport. grouse contributes nothing to society. therefore grouse needs to be hated upon until the tram takes its last trip.

andrew shut the fuck up seriously.....
everyone is just stoked to go out riding and you just come off as some douche that has a slow ass double chair jammed up his ass and needs to tell everyone how awesome it is.
All the mountains are fun to shred, and its all about who you ride with

ah welcome back, i am looking forward to see you make an ass out of yourself throughout this season.

I think that's actually not this guy

correct me if I'm wrong but I think Andrew Hennighan is skinighan (sp?)

andrewh is just douche.

hey andrew. you have a point: grouse has a much lower elevation than seymour, and they make some of their snow too. I assume I'll be seeing you at seymour again this year! yeah!!

eh, grouse may actually pull it together park wise this year. they've built some pretty solid new rails for the season. either way i got myself a seymour pass 'cause seymour will still have the best park on the shore.

ill just use this thread.

i live in squamish, so im right in the middle of the van mountains and whis.

i have a whis pass already, so would it even be worth checking out seymour?

im not gonna bother with cypress or grouse, but is seymour worth a trip?

ive never ridden vancouver

shitpress has fucked around with me too much. from last years no park no refund issue, to their terrible "bell power park" to the shitty customer service and high prices.

I will always boycott that mountain since there not worth spending a dime on.

guy is just having a laugh, if you like Grouse who cares. Let andrewh hate. We all know if anything hurts the sports its elitist haters not people who take it too serious.

last i heard UBC biology program is looking to perform a study regarding the abnormal concentration of small penises in the skiing industry. they are offering all newschoolers.com individuals a free y2 play pass to participate in a survey of pin dink analysis. please report to the ski movie festival this november for a preliminary screening.

sweet, i think ill have atleast a day up there than. is there anything about it that i should be aware of?

i thought i remembered hearing something about if you wear really baggy stuff, people bitch and try and make fun of you.

cause im 5'10 with xl saga and excel in MMA :)

You'll be fine, I find that the style at seymour is more grungy and darkish colourers (washed blue/yellow/brown) don't worry bout it, people wont make fun of you and if they do just do sumthin sick and then they'll be cool with it

i got made fun of once for wearing a 4bi9 shirt on whistler haha.

and my setup turned out identical to adam delormes in eye trip, so murdered from the knees up haha

Actually Grouse has more annual vistors, employees and revenue therefore contributes more to society than Seymour. BUt I still like seymour more.

Do you see any of Grouse's revenue going back into the mountain by way of anything useful? Hmm? Maybe lowering their ticket prices and stop pretending to be Whistler? Perhaps something to alleviate ridiculous lines on weekends? Oh right, they put that new peak chair in. That makes worlds of difference when the cut chair line is snaking up to the park.

i feel that my hatred of grouse is legitimate and justified. i love skiing, and my time skiing the terrain at grouse was great. however, i feel that the management mentality at grouse is ample reason to hate on the resort. the terrain is great and has much potential, but management's sanctimonious attitude and ignorant policies are shameful and deplorable to the point of ridicule and scorn.
the ordeal that myself, haywood, petznick, and nixon went through was ridiculous. skiing out of bounds is not a crime and not even disallowed at ski resorts in BC. so management's reaction was utterly inappropriate and unjustified.
and therein lies grouse's true crime. failure to live up to the incredible potential. there actually is incredible terrain available at grouse. sick on a whistler scale. if you drop in on the north side of olympic chairs, there is a rad 20-30 foot cliff band and some super nasty road gaps that would make devun walsh blush, and with no hiking in or out.... oh, but you cant ski there cause its out of bounds. in thrasher creek, there are really bad ass north facing cliffs and chutes with a hike about the length of chimney on blackcomb. for a hike the length of spearhead, there is epic AK alpine terrain available with thousands of feet of vert
grouse's true crime is not seizing its potential as a gateway to incredible backcountry terrain and instead recklessly slandering responsible backcountry users and propagating policies that will actually endanger backcountry users. with an open minded backcountry policy, vancouver skiers would be able to access phenomenal skiing easily, within city, and importantly with very close access to rescue services should the need arise. instead, the narrow minded and foolhardy management at grouse has ruthlessly denigrated responsible backcountry users and has made skiing more dangerous for all.
the mountain has sick potential, but i hate the grouse management and their ridiculous mentality. so fuck you grouse, it is thine own hate which has brought mine to bear.

uhh you should be good, people are chill at seymour. the only thing is it is smaller than grouse and cypress and doesn't have a high speed quad, but the off-piste and general vibe is better. especially on a weekday seymour is money, no lift lines.

I think one of the biggest fears for Grouse is the fact of how accessible it really is. I know all the areas that you are talking about and so many skiers could quite easily get over their heads very quickly. By no means am I saying that this should be closed to everyone but they need to find a way to allow the appropriately trained and equiped access to the area while still maintaining the safety of the every day skier. To access much of whistlers and blackcombs "backcountry" terrain you have to put in your effort for it, which on its own deters the weekend warrior from accessing the terrain. This would not be the case with Grouse, I believe that many more people would be hurt and injured in comparison to Whistler/blackcomb because of this variable. I am not saying that one party is right or wrong, I am just saying that I recognize both parties and the arguments that they present. Because trust me I would jizz my pants if i was allowed access to that terrain without the threat of having my pass cut.

They should do what Sunshine has, the Dive, Wild West and Silver City can only be accessed with probe, shovel, beacon and with a partner. Keeps the punters out, leaves the terrain accessible.

Yeah Grouse's park sucked last year, but you can only make do with what you're given and the ski gods didn't really wanna give too much snow last year. That being said hitting the park was still fun with some friends to go with. I'm gonna keep skiing grouse alot cuz they're pass is shit cheap and bussing there from UBC isn't even a little difficult. I'm kinda hopeing that there's actually jumps there this year, but we'll see.

Yet seymour kept there park TOP NOTCH, and i think closed with a 6 jump line? plus grouse had the ability to make snow some nights.
