Grouse 2010/11

HOOLY SHIT. I was up today, best day of the season, if not the best day for me on Grouse, ever. First tracks on outer limits were epic, pillow lines right and left along with a good 12-15 footer off of one pillow into pow and one gap at the bottom. Last run, me and my buddy cut into the trees on the left of purgatory and just kept cutting left and ended up way past outer limits in untracked pillow fields galore. It was a bit of a hike out but SO WORTH IT! If you decide to head out there, watch out for the deep tree wells at the moment due to early season conditions. There were a couple gullies to work around too. Knee deep pow and pillows though, its worth the risk.
All in all, an amazing day, wow. GET UP THERE!

There were some great lines to the left of outer limits... I came up a bit late and missed out on a lot of the freshies... too bad, I hope it snows soon!

New bent down flat down handrail at the bottom of the park with a down handrail both are sicsick. Just posting this on my phone and will be riding for a couple hours so give me a halhaller if u see me

so pretty much today was the greatest day eva, and grouse really has its shit together this year. pretty much every feature in the park is sick in its own right.

How are the conditions up the mountain.. was it snowing or was it raining today? I never trust what mountains post on their conditions page... so your knowledge would be helpful.

I heard that it was snowing and not rain, didn't get a chance to get up there myself though. I work up there early tomo morning so ill try and post an update with the conditions if i can.

that would be dope.

its a tradition of mine to ski on christmas eve, but im not so enclined to go with the 30mm of rain expected

lolz

Mt Seymour is currently closed due to inclement weather. We look forward to re-opening tomorrow Saturday Dec 25th.

i don't see anything saying it's closed tomorrow?

and grouse is usually closed at 12:42am I think...

god damn there are so many skier kids on this mountain

i hope they dont change the park with the rebuild though, its perfect besides the shit jumps and that weird kicker to downbox

soo i guess the rebuild didnt happen. park crew was a little misinformed and the new date set for it is thursday.

yep went up there today and everything was well maintained it was just hard as balls. But obvs that is no fault of the park staff, just brother nature.
Still loving the park right now esp the barrel tap

Apparently should be up in the next 2 weeks. Thursday is a build day so there is a (pretty slim) chance they do something then.. But it will most likely just be a Quik Park rebuild which I'm looking forward to

more snow is definitely needed for it to be the size they're hoping for. fingers crossed this 2 weeks of warm rain doesnt happen.

copied strait of grouse parks blog: I’ve also heard news that the park crew will be starting to push snow Thursday night getting ready for the Cut Jump Line, which they are hoping to have done by early next week.

were you up tonight? the jumps are being built.

it goes:

mellow 15-20, bigger step up, bigger step over, bigger step down. then it cuts back into the quik park after the small hip/pole jam, and you would ride out where the dfd and df used to be.

also, halfway between the old dfd/df and the down rail/elbow, they're gonna put a feature or two in there. hopefully the dfd/df combo

max forgot to also say that the jumps are not built and only the begining of the landings so you dont no how big they are really

seymour park has about 3 features worth actually riding you can hit in a 15 minute lap

it does not hold a candle to grouse and i wish my friends had grouse passes so i could ride there instead :(
