That movie was very very strange.
Kind of a random thread bump but I just watched this doc on Netflix and found it pretty disturbing.
If you watch the documentary, the bear that killed him AND the dude's girlfriend was doing the predator circle around them for several days, and even an inexperienced naturalist would know that this is the sign to leave. His complete lack of training and skills is the reason he died, but his immature nature and severe psychological problems are all over those tapes. No gun, no pepper spray and a girlfriend begging him to leave. Point is, this kind of behavior shouldn't be encouraged as if it was somebody doing important work who was accidentally killed, it was an idiot who was playing russian roulette with his own life and got that girl killed.
It's kinda fucked up how people saw this dude as some sort of professional. Someone should have gotten him help.

I totally agree with gerbear, Treadwell obviously had a screw loose which ended up getting himself and that woman killed. I mean, that one scene where he's playing with the bear's shit all like "It's still warm! It was just inside of her!" What was that about? And when he was balling his eyes out for 5 or 10 minutes over that dead bee or something? Very weird guy.
Although, I did enjoy when the fox stole his hate and he was chasing it around yelling about how he needed that hat.
