Grinds

hey i was just wondering ... how many grinds do us skiiers have and how many grinds snowboarders have... they are WAY more advanced than us on those, we gotta show em up on those and also the half pipe i really think we can do better in that one too just as a lil thingie to add to this, i know they have been doing this for way longer than us but that gives us a chance to progrerss even faster and catch up to them and kick their asses !

well me personally i can slide rails left foot foward (unnatural) and grind right foot foward (natural) and ive heard of skiers doin nose presses... berman was telling me he was filming in november and a couple of the kids were doin tail slides and nose presses.

I think we're kind of forgetting here that skiing and snowboarding really are two different sports, and comparing style between them is like comparing an apple with an orange. Both have their different styles, and what looks good to a skier might not necessarily look good to a boarder, and vice versa.

On grinds: I agree that a soul is kind of pushing it, on skis. Maybe a miszou would be cool, I can see that.... but personally I wouldn't want a grind plate attached to my skis or my boot. I'm fine with frontsides, unnaturals, backsides, spins on/ off rails, etc. I'm really surprised that one-footed grinds haven't caught on yet... I mean, I know that people are doing them out there, but I didn't see even ONE in the X-Games, and haven't heard of anyone doing them in the other big comps. Why not?

Yeah, but if I can do them, then I figure Tanner or Jon or Eric or Mike or Skogen or Evan or C.R. or Iannick or Phil or SOMEONE would do one!

some grinds are cool on snowboards....

-my name is sirjibsalot i like to jib rails alot, curved ones, kinked ones, long ones, short ones, rainbow ones, and hand rail ones, because my name is sirjibsalot-

Don't forget about the lipslide.... If you grind with right foot forward then come into rail on the left side (lookin at it) and then grind right foot forward

Its kinda intimidating but once you get it, it looks kinda cool, this came from snowboarding /skateboarding

a soul on skis is kinda dumb. only thing that would look good is a 50-50 or a makio (one foot on rail, grab other. or even fishbrains would be nuts, but ppl would just think theyre makios, and wouldnt appreciate the difficulty.

I was about to totally call out the thread starter for suggesting that snowboarders are better at grinding than skiers. But from an 8 YEAR OLD THREAD, i think it shows just how far we've come. Skiing grinds are so much more technical, are there are simply more of them than snowboard grinds/ slides/ presses.
Just shows what 8 seasons of non-stop progression does for a sport.

No, they're not. I ski with equal numbers of skiers and snowboarders, and the skiers' grinds/ slides/ presses are much more technical and better executed.I don't dispute that snowboarders are good at whit they do, but skiers are better.
