pop a nice ollie and keep your knees kinda bent and legs a bit more than shoulder length apart. stay in athletic position the whole time. also keep looking at the end of the rail the whole time. stay commited. stay over your skis. dont lean back or forward

Aim to get the rail right under your boots and always look at the end of the rail.

^^i 2nd keeping weight over your front foot. keep it on the back and you'll slide back and hit your hip.

um if you're just starting, realize that the rail is going to be slippery and you can't edge on it at all. so get your weight forward cuz it's completely frictionless. also, come up to the rail with it centered between your legs and pop straight up, then turn your skis 90 degrees. that way you'll be heading straight down the rail and won't slide off to the side. and be confident and be willing to get bruised. have fun!

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

Well, one of my personal favs is the good ole nut grind. All you need to do is head up to the jump, spread your legs nice and wide, pop, and then be prepared for a nice surprise.

Get a free ipod, its pretty easy.

90 on and try not to pop too hard or you will come down too hard on the rail and fuck your skis, as well as have shit balance

'this is just like sex, only im having it!'

allright, listen hear! all u have too to for a basic rail slide is come up to the rail with ur legs about 1.5 feet apart, stay low, then pop onto the rail and try to get it under ur feet and stay low (gorilla steeze) and ride it .

lets go skiing

^if hes just learning who gives a shit about style.

yea definatly lean forward like someone said above or else your feet will fly out and you come down on the rail not fun

ya 90 on for sure. my first time trying i nutted like 20 times cause i was being a pussy. just be commited and it'll work out fine

fuck a book

Make sure you have the speed to do the specific rail you are trying to do. To start off it never hurts to go a little faster then you normally would because you will grind faster making it easier (shorter) to keep your balance. Once you get the feel for sliding the rail start to play with you speed so you can stay on the rail a little longer and be more confident in exiting or entering the rail.

if your going on the box make sure you don't dig your front skiis edge into the box because that = bail on your face.

Life is tough. Get over it!!!

dude.... dont lean either way... pop a 90, keep your feet at shoulder distance or a little more apart, make sure you dont set either of your edges because that hurts when your feet slide out from under you.... keep the same amount of weight on both feet... and look at the end of the rail, never at your boots.... have fun, and dont die

when you do rails should you keep both skis flat on the rail or should you try to lift your front edge up a little?

I tend to raise the edge on the dh ski just a little cuz I'm afraid of catching and eating shit

boost

lean forward,,,,,

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

^^ i also do that and have eaten shit b/c i caught my front edge..did like a super-man dive off the rail and lande on my chest and face...but yea its all about committing...took me a while to realize this and now im fine

greasing rails is all mental just pop 90 and be moving at a light jogging speed (if its flat or step down) and as long as you don't think it will be fine. try starting on a real wide box a retarted one legged monkey could slide that shit

Im still afloat, i aint the captain of tha yact but im on the boat
I aint actin what im not
Knowin that i dont

I just learnt properly on wednesday! Woo! so stoked. Make sure you do the full 90 and lean a lot more forward than you think. That's what I was doing wrong, as soon as I changed it worked every time.
