Grinding edges for easier rails?

does anyone grind their edges below the binding so they wont catch so easily on rails? how much? does this make sense at all or am i just retarded?

i cut my edges out with a saw.

then filled it with a really dense wax. it worked awesome.

yeah i do it.. slides nice on rails but just wait until you hit some ice on the hill - its devastating.

on my older skis i took an angle grinder and ground the fuck out of my edges until they were really smooth andhad no edge. works really good and you can slide on anything but when i use them at a mountain they suck

dont bother filing it down really. it takes 2 days for ur edges to be rail hittable. sure u may catch but wut ev jus ski

i broke my thumb the first day on my new skis. 270 on to edge catch, to face first on landing, to a thumb breaking my fall. i should have detuned!

hahah i watched it spence, pretty funny! i caught a bit on my new skis first or second day at sunapee...but 3rd day i was 270 on rails and shit fine...doesnt take long for skis to anturally dull them selves. plus after a year of skiing with literaslly no edges its nice to be able ot turn on trails b4 a real park is even open yet

I just file out the area under my boot. Still keep the rest of the edge sharp and it slides nicely on rails

how often do you guys actually hook up on rails? i just got my skis wintersteigered (it gives them just about a racer's edge) and i havent caught at all. theyre really messed up underfoot, but no catching, yet. so how many of you guys have caught edges?

and is it worse doing urban stuff than rails at ski hills?

its not grinding, its detuning, and yes do it, you dont need much, just take a fileand run it up and down a few times with some pressure.

itll stop your edges from cracking too.

this has been an announcement in radical, brought to you by fiddle faddle.

yea i do it really lightly after my like first 5 days on new skis to get rid of the burrs then just like once or twice in a long time will do the trick

ive never caught an edge on a rail... maybe im just lucky

my edges have like 5 cracks underfoot tho

Detune them with a gummy stone. gummy stones are like 6bucks just keep rubbing the edge with it until the edge is smooth

If ur just a jibber, then ya file them down, but if you do pipe and ramps too, then find a comprimise so theyre not too sharp so that you catch on rails, but sharp enough to be able to carve the pipe or off a ramp. ya.

yeah i think i may do that to my ski just under the boot round it right up. becasue the other day i was out skiing and i hit the rail and caught an edge , it was messed i didnt fall but i jercked back and forth rihgt crazzy , hit it agian and i seen these huge sparks coming from my edges it was sweet hahaha i love fire and piro stuff:P
