just got ep pros and i'm gonna get either jesters or griffons..... i'm like 5'7 and weigh like 115... what should i get.

ya thats what i was thinking....i dont know i cant see myself going to 16 so i think jesters are kind of overkill

i would go with griffins, im about your size and i find i don't need a huge din like 16 on my bacons. and griffins are a lot lighter so they will keep your setup weight down.

griffons are peices of shit, the lighter weight is due to more plastic and they have zero durablity, if ur gonna get marker bindings get the duke or jester, the other two blow hard dick, if i had to recomend bindings it would be any of the tyrolia bindings which include head and 4frnt, proven quality and technology.

i havent heard anyhting great about tyrolias/head and whatnot, that theyre ok, but not great, i would def take the griffons over the tyrolias.im sure the griffons are good bindings, but not as good as jesters.

I don't see whats sooo bad about Griffons! Everones like "Ohh, no, don't get Griffons! They have plastic!" Thats why there's Jesters! For people who don't need a top of the line 16 DIN superbinding you can get Griffons. I don't see whats so bad!

truth!

unles youre thrown switch 10's on 80 foot kickers an all metal binding isnt a nessecity. i would have gotten griffons last yera but they only had jesters. chances of them breaking are slim to none of them breaking, and its probally not even gonna be because of the plastic on them.

i have the same question, however i found a pair of jesters for the same price as the griffons, so i think im going to get the jesters; however i would've gotten the griffons if this place still had them. i know a bunch of people how have the griffons and they say they are the best binding they've had.
quick question, and srry to thread steal, but what are reasonalbe prices for the jesters and the griffons? i want to make sure this price i found isn't a rip off.

i always use rossi. i hate marker in general. they suck. all of there stuff is made out of plastic. and its shit. so don't use it. i used to use them and broke a shit load of jesters. had the same rossis for 2 years now. 100 dollars rossis mind you. no problems what so ever

i know everyone here has said to get the griffon, but for an extra $50 is it worth it to get the jesters? i plan on using this binding for 2-3 seasons...will the plastic be able to last that long?

Yes the plastic will last

If you are 200lb or you are throwing 10's then go the jester

i.e. If you need a burlier binding then go for the Jester, of not then the Griffon would be fine.

For $50 i'd go the jester.

Some of the people on here making binding recommendations really have no idea. As long as a binding serves its main purpose (keep you bound to the ski and release at proper times, protecting your knees) then there are only a few other noticeable criteria to judge a binding by:

weight

price

durability

look

feel

I've had the top bindings from the major 3, salomon 916's, look p14 and market jesters.

All 3 preformed the basics. I've killed breaks on the salomons and the looks but they have otherwise stayed intact. And the jesters are currently holding up great.

I would recommend going with the griffon. It's much lighter then the competition, preforms the basic tasks as well, and they are durable, despite people complaining about the plastic. There is a reason there is plastic. it is designed around a lighter rider. And provided you are within that weight range (you clearlyu are) you should have zero worries about the durrability. Anybody bashing them simply because they have plastic heal tower and toe wings is an idiot. A good binding design will incorporate exactly how much material (weight) is needed and no more. Sure my looks were durable, but they were heavy as @#$%. Marker has designed a binding of minimal weight that holds up to its intended rider (under 200lbs). Get them, don't worry.

marker bindings in general are awesome bindings.
idk what everyone is talking about, a few of my friends ride griffons nothing but good things coming out of their mouth, im probably gonna throw a pair once i get my bents next season.
but ya i would look into salomon bindings too, they are pretty good as well

I saw a guy totaly rip the heel piece off his 120's just landing weird off a jump, i wouldnt recomend these but i personaly use griffons and have had no problems wat so ever and I weight 40 pounds more than you

Ripping a heel out of the ski is more of a problem with the mount or the ski core than the binding

I got my jesters for $200
Also, there is a huge amount of terrible advice in this thread. I have heard about more bad stuff happening Salomon STH 12 and 14s (Brakes breaking, heelpeice cracking) and Looks (heavy, heelpeice ripping out) than I have about the Jesters or Griffons. I mean Rossi riders don't even use the current Rossi or Look bindings, they use the FKS series. If you want a binding the everyone agrees is bombproof, go with the Rossi FKS 155s
And like has been said before: the plastic doesn't matter unless you are 250 lbs+ AND throw down huge 12s 17+ feet out of the pipe or off 80ft kickers.

same here. i have griffons on two pairs of skis (I'm 5'11" 170) and they work great. i chose them because of how light they are. no issues with durability other than scratches. get the griffons.

Very rarely have I heard about specifically Look heelpieces ripping out - but if that's the case then it's a problem with the mount or the ski, not the binding.

As for Rossi riders not using current stock - well nice way to generalize. I know the FKS is still the preferred binding, but plenty of racers use the current PX18.

griffons. they are pretty much the same binding just jesters have a higher din. and you dont need it at your size.

I don't usually pick on individual responses but this is just ridiculous.

-First of all, you are very misleading. All of markers stuff isn't 'made of plastic'.

-You don't have a basis to say they suck and 'not to use it,' There's no way you've had the experience to use enough of markers products to form that opinion.

-"i've used them and broke a shit load of Jesters." Right, I'm sure you did.

First of all, Jesters have only been out since last year, hardly enough time to have used 'a shit load.' Secondly, as has been mentioned, they aren't made from plastic. Both the heal tower and toe wings are made from metal.

How many is 'a shitload.' I call complete and total BS on you. The Jester is designed for an aggressive, heavy rider. Judging from your profile pic, you aren't that heavy. You also say that you have been using the 120 for 2 years and they are clearly shown on your skis in your profile. So how many other pairs of skis could you possibly have owned, mounted with Jesters I might add? So, you have been using rossis for 2 years, but have also had the chance to break 'a shitload' of jesters ( a very high end binding) in the year and a bit that have been on the market, all while still using your rossis mounted on your current skis and been able to say that they have had no problems. Clearly, there isn't enough of a time fram for you to have broken a bunch of jesters.

I've been here for over 8 years and your'e one of the only members i've individually called out. Congratulations.
