I hear in the next couple decades skiing will basically be dead in most of the world except Europe due to global warming. Apparently all it takes is a few degrees temperature change and everything is ruined.

But I also hear that we are entering another 'mini ice age.' These small ice ages occur every couple centuries, the last one was in the 1700s.

Maybe they will cancel each other out, but just to be sure, I think we should cut down on pollution bigtime. No more gas should help I guess, but thats not good either. Anyone know some facts?

who cares is skiing is dead within the next few decades ill be done by then and as far as future generations go fuck em. If they wanna ski bad enough then theyll have to learn to make their own snow like a normal human being.

the thought totally sucks. Hopefully the climate shift will cause an ice age. that would be sweet. On the other hand in 1889 a huge volcano erupted and caused a huge global temperature drop for an entire year.

 
Well i agree we need to cut back on pollution but i dont see it gettin so bad skiing is non existant in a few decades!! But who knows eithere way pollution is gettin ridiculous! I would move to antartica if need be to ski!

I don't quite buy into the global warming theories. This winter in Minnesota, we had TEMPERATURES, not wind chills, of -125F. It was one of the coldest winters on record here. Either way, I'll be done skiing by then and future generations will probably have come up with a cool replacement.

this is how the earth works....the earth usually rotates fairly straight....about every 10,000 years the earth slows down a little and starts to wobble...this causes massive glaciers to form around the world and then after a while it slowly starts speeding up and getting back staight and then the temps become normal.....its been more than 10,000 years since the last one and the earth is due to slow down again. so global warming will continue but its still gonna get colder....the north and far south will be ral cold

there is fucking holes in the ozone! and they have fucken prooven that they are getting bigger! it is an easy thing to proove onve you have a satelite immage from about 20 years ago and then you take another sattelite image today and compair the fucking to. and they know that it is becuase of polution generated by humas. it is fucking chemistry! ask basically any chemist and they will fucking tell you!

there has been a recent increse in climate temperature in general all over the world (for the most part) scientists are not sure if it is becuase of the wholes in the ozone or not, one thing they do know is that the ozone keeps out some of the suns rays that make the earth warmer, therefor if there is holes in the ozone, it is sure to have an effect on the earth's temp sometime. it is predicted that becuase of these holes, the climate tempreature of the world will, on avrage go up 5-10 degrees celcus (for all you 12 yearolds celcus is aprovimatly 2 times as much as ferenhite)

Global warming= melting of polar ice caps = cold water going into gulf stream.

The gulf stream is what warms up eastern US and most of the world, so if cold water gets into the stream, messing up the cycle, there will be more cold air, and more bitterly cold winters.

^exactly.....it says that in discovery magazine..they have a map that shows climate differences within 5 years or something...the east is supposed to get colder and 35% more snow and utah is supposed to have the same effect but less snow than its already gettin. the west is supposed to warm up...its gonna become a big desert in 50 years prolly

Yeah, this global warming stuff is just bullshit. It's natural. It happens every few 10-100 thousand years, where the earth gets warmer or cooler. We are not causing global warming, nature is. The earth is not fragile. It has an ability to heal itself. We would not be here if the earth couldn't repair itself from countless astriods, volcanic eruptions, and other stuff.

I have also heard that global warming would make the east coast colder and wetter. But if global warming did happen, the glaciers would start to melt, make the oceans colder. Most weather systems come from from the ocean so it would make the earth get really cool really fast.

This ozone hole stuff is a bunch of crap too. Not many people no that the ozone hole opens and closes. People don't know that in our winter/their summer it is closed. That means the only time it opens is during the antartic winter, when there is no sun.

that was 5-10 deg C in 100 years. think about it that is alot. I honestly can't see how you can just blow off global warming and say it is fake. it is a fact that the substances put off by cars and smoke stacks brakes down the ozone layer and it is also a fact that the ozone layer keeps out some rays from the sun, thus keeping the earth cool. ozone layer goes away = global warming! it is a simple chemical reaction like you learn in chemistry class. CO2 brakes down ozone!

jarossamdb7, did you not read what I wrote? We are not causing global warming. Did you know that the average volcanic eruption emits more CO2 than mankind has produced in it's entire existance. The ozone hole is also a natural phenomenon. It has been there since before we even used fossil fuels. The hole closes up during the antartic winter, and there is no sun in the winter there, so it cannot possibly make the earth's temperature go up 5-10 degrees.

I just did a paper on this. in the next 30 years the elevation for reasonable snow will increase by about 500-900 feet. to like 4900 feet. It will not affect most North American resorts. Mostly those in Switzerland. Already they are having a hard time getting loans from banks and stuff. Places like Lake Louise and Sunshine in Banff are at 7000 feet, so there will be snow for hundreds of years there. its mainly just low resorts.

is that sarcasm? volcanos eject millions of cubic feet of extemely tiny particles that can float around the atmosphere for a very long time. Some volcanos have the ability to put out hundreds of times more 'ejecta' than Mt. St. Helens. this can block sunlight and cool down the entire planet.

 
i hear that the goverment is going to nuke the moon so it crashes into the earth, then they are going to meld it into the earth and expand the earth, then they are going to move the earth farther from the sun so it is colder, and to move it they are going to use huge thrusters developed by NASA.
