Green States

Now that Washington and Colorado have legalized Marijuana, I hope they don't fuck it up. I have lived in both states and I am damn proud. Hopefully the Fed won't crack down and use these states as Test studies for a potential solution to the debt crisis. This is predicted to generate 500 million in the first year in the state of Washington.

Will it work or will the FED shut the doors... Thoughts?

what the states should do is find plots of land where they can start growing hemp. Because that's legalized under this. If i was a farmer in colorado i would soley grow industrial hemp no questions asked. Because california wants to jump on this band wagon and they have wayyyyyy more farm land and they will capitalize on the hemp industry but some dude in colorado could already had a monopoly on US hemp and made a lot of money before california is able to.

You Probably Don't Know Washington and Colorado very well, but Colorado is 50% farm lands and Washington is about 70% Farmland. These states have the ability to turn this crop into the worlds producer of Cannabis Products. This isn't the Netherlands we are talking about. Both States are very large.

More like, hopefully they don't crack down on the states and put them under martial law. It'd be great to see what could actually happen if the government let them be.

the revenue generated from this is gonna be pretty crazy. 25% sales tax for cannabis products though.

i think it's just weed and weed products, like brownies, oil, other edibles and drinks infused with thc

I honestly am very proud of this massive change for you Americans and I hope this means that eventually all of the United States will be legal. I honestly I always thought though out of all places, we in Canada would be legal first.

Governors of both states were said to have phone meetings with Attorney General Holder today. I doubt the Feds really care. But it being a serious be all end all solution for the deficit/debt issues? Absolutely not, although every little bit does help.

I would be surprised if the fed just let's it ride.

If the fed leaves them alone and everything goes fine, then that will lead to more and more states doing the same thing. I don't see the federal government being too willing to give up that power.

Are you referring to CO or WA? I was listening on the radio this morning, and although posession of under an ounce and consumption will no longer be illegal, distribution and growing will be.

Basically what they're saying is there's still no legal way to harvest recreational marijuana in washington-- and also any transfer from one person to another is still considered distribution. So it's legal to have it, but however you may have gotten it (outside of medical) is still illegal. Kind of strange.

So far the situation is that they are waiting for the Obama administration to say whether or not they will crack down on it or not
