He lives in a little shack he built on his parents land, wood burning stove and a bed in there he showed me a pic once.

I’ve lapped with him a few different times at lutsen, one of the best around! Always friendly and throwing down, can’t come around better people than that. Big ups!
 
Wow, its so crazy to hear that he gave up so many amenities like reliable heat, indoor plumbing and style.

Just take a step back from all of that for a minute and imagine what doca or any of these comp kids will do once the competition scene has run it’s course with them. Even if just one of them takes those skills to the streets, shit will be revolutionary. Get your head out of your ass and think about it.
 
I don’t keep up much with what skiers are popular right now, but all I know Cal Carson used to be a USASA kid

99% of CL was comp kids. 100% of Stept was comp kids. 4bi9 was majorly comp kids. Very few of peoples favorites skiers were not comp kids.

The only pro I know who actually did it 100% on his own was zahner. There might be others but that’s the only one I can say with certainty, I also wanna say Meeks did it on his own as well

Yeah man and I have no problem with any of these guys or any people currently competing in free skiing. More power to them honestly and it's really the only place to "make it" professionally other than filming parts which is kind of dying so it makes sense.

It's just the barrier of entry for people without the resources money and time that is upsetting.

The money side of skiing and how so much of skiing can be about profit and imagery is tough

That’s kinda why I brought up Luke votow lol. He’s a Midwest kid with no coaches, no academy, no millionaire parents, it’s kinda him vs the world in the comp scene. You can not fuck with his outfits, that’s fine, but he’s kinda the biggest insp out rn if I’m being honest. Going against all these kids with 24/7 airbag access and spending 300+ days on snow each year, yet still in the circuit, so fuckin admirable, LV hate is dumb as hell he’s for the people

But yeah ur homie is sick and I’ll always root way harder for the underdogs, sorry if that tangent took the shine away from nitro circus helmet 5050 to 540 out Midwest beast lol

Give this kid 5 years and he will be changing the game, whatever he decides to do.

I do tbh. Creativity, style and trick selection are all things that come with age and experience. Pull up vids of Faelan when he was 13, I bet it’s also a bunch of techy rail tricks with hella spins and swaps.

I don’t know a single teenager who has a tasteful bag of tricks

You're not totally wrong but come to hyland or virtually any Minnesota hill if you want to see teenagers doing unique tricks. I just can't see this kid doing anything else but big spins he totally seems to be on that trajectory.

Nah that’s just not true.

I’m at hyland every day and I see nothing out of the ordinary. A lot of front swaps and fours. The creative stuff is coming from the older guys who have it figured out. I would like you to send a clip of a high schooler at hyland doing something “creative”

you are oblivious of jack thyne, plus all the other gewgaw guys were ripping unique tricks all throughout HS. The last generation (hopefully not we will see) of cool hyland skiers is gone/about to perish.

Doca is an amazing skier who will probably be changing the game or at least adding to the game in the future as long as he keeps his head in the skiing game and continues to enjoy it.

He is not an "academy kid" but he is on a freestyle team that practices 4 days a week with a coach. Pretty sure he's ranked like 2nd in his age group nationally rn as far as USASA
