"It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens.

...There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.

In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious. As the temperature rises, polar ice cap melting, coastal flooding and super storm pattern all fail to occur as predicted everyone will come to realize we have been duped. The sky is not falling. And, natural cycles and drifts in climate are as much if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next twenty years are equally as likely to see a cooling trend as they are to see a warming trend. "

 
I personally think it is a scam too.

Now that does not mean I think everyone should just pollute the shit out of the environment, but honestly, these global warming scare mongers just want people to buy into their bullshit 'carbon' tax so they can make a shit load of money.
 
i believe that it's happening, but i'm not convinced it is entirely caused by humans, but also a part of a natural climate cycle. i don't want to go into any more detail than that right now.

Global warming is REAL, but its obivously not the global warming that Al Gore has portrayed in his movie with NINE! scientific errors. The worlds warmer but it's not out fault.
 
it's funny how he says that we'll soon find out that predictions made now will not come true, when we have the proof today that shows it is occuring. im not getting into it.

i agree, but you need to think of developing countries...how are they supposed to be able to afford green energy sources. We often only think in terms of our developed nations.
 
The global warming movement is a half assed, less-panic-provoking effort to get people and (primarily) governments to acknowledge that we are running out on fossil fuels on this Earth and that we need to find an alternative quickly.

The problem is not really "That by burning all this coal/oil/natural gas the Earths temperature is going to go up". The real problem is that we're going to start running out of stuff to burn at all.

Prices for a barrel of oil have hovered around $20 all through the 90s, starting in about 2004 prices began climbing rediculously and we're about to break $100/barrel if there isn't some kind of major oil field discovery. (Oil field discoverys peaked in 1964 and have been declining ever since even amid hugely increasing demand.)

but...IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD (many people are overly freaked)

We have nuclear/wind/and maybe one day fusion to provide us with a relatively stable (although less) quantity of electricity. As far as liquid fuels go we are fucked. Electric cars are the way of the future (Tesla). Hopefully they can come out with an affordable model before gas is unavailible for civilian use.

The main problem (from a government's perspective) is that you can't really run a war without oil (Electric Tanks would be wimpy or MASSIVELY expensive. Electric fighter jets probably nearly impossible.). Our leaders realize this and are positioning us in the Worlds epicenter of oil production (the middle east). The government that can secure the last remaining oil on the planet secures the ability to wage modern warfare well into the future while competeing militaries are cripled to third world status.

This is the most dramatic issue our race will face in the coming years.
 
Nothing happening today is worse than anything we have seen before. We can protect our citys from coastal flooding if the ice caps were to melt. Man thrives during warmer periods, It has been proven over and over through history. Personally I agree with John Coleman(One of the most respected meteorologists and founder of the weather channel) when he says that we are just as likely to be talking about a cooler climate in twenty years than we are a warmer one. In the 70s there was a global cooling scare. Some will argue that they made too big of a deal out of it, but couldn't we be making too big of a deal out of this?
 
Yeah he's definitley a moron being one of the top senior meteorologists in the world and founding the weather channel. I knew someone would have a comment like that and not have any idea of this guys credentials.
 
Everyone one has an opinion and I cant stop that, but its always a good idea to clean up our act and start thinking environment, we only get one of those

 
i dont give a shit what his credentials are. if you deny that the climate hasnt increased at all, you are an ignorrant moron. here in oregon, the mountains usually open around october 31 and as of now we have like 4 inches. if you can honestly think its a "scam" you have some research to do.
 
Dude, the guy hardly qualifies as a 'meteorologist'. He is not a scientist. He was a tv weatherman in Illinois, started a 24 hour weather channel and worked there for 1 year, got kicked out of the operation, and went back to local news.
 
okay, well the farmers alminac predicted a normal to below normal snowfall for this winter for everywhere in the country except the north east. here we dont start skiing till a week or two before christmas, hell, big boulder opened up like 2 weekends ago (not 100% by far, but still its better than nothing)

There have been documenteries about global warming since the Nazis were in power for christ sakes...

Now, he says that we will all be duped if in 20 years nothing will have melted down? thats a perposterous fallacy and he is just trying to attack the credibility of about a million scientists by saying that. The ice caps WILL melt. there has already been tons of evidence, and its god damn obvious. I'm going to commit eye for eye by attacking credibility of this john coleman right now, and I dont give a shit.

Where is his evidence to explain his side of the story I ask? He didnt give one scientific finding in his entire statement about why global warming is a myth like he states. He just goes on rambling about how we are being conned by "radical environmentalists". He doesnt have the wherewithall, knowhow, or brain to be a colomnist if he is one... what a fuckface. all he is doing is starting up contreversey and spin...

I believe in a medium, and perhaps global warming isnt nearly as bad as so explained by these so called "radical environmentalists", but its damn near close, and before it gets worse, things have got to change... here in North America, There in Europe, and especially way over there in China and Russia... where there is a shit ton of pollution being racked up from quickly expanding industries and INSANE populations (that said, russia is shrinking dramatically)

Good lord.  Threads like this make me disgusted to even be a member of this website.  CREDIBLE scientists arounds the world, at universities, in governments, and working independently, agree that human activity is contributing to global climate change.  Sure, climates warm naturally, independent of human activity, but not at the rate that it has over the past several decades. The evidence is irrefutable.  Myths like the ones you all are being suckered into believing are perpetuated and backed up by "junk science" funded by corporations like ExxonMobil and other parties with an interest in selling oil, cars, or other polluting products.   
 
Ok, so lets say its a scam, and we choose to do nothing about it, then its a win win situation. Lets say its a scam and we do something about it. Well then we'll have wasted alot of time and effort on trying to prevent this would be a win lose.

So now lets say global is real and we do something about it. In the end we'll have used alot of money and resources but we'll still have our planet cause we prevented it. Now lets say we dont do anything about it and its real. well then end of the world ice caps melting and all that shit and whatnot.

Would you rather have wasted alot of money and effort or see the end of the world?
 
Again, I reiterate....Climate change is mostly a scare tactic to get people/governments/businesses to stop using so many fossil fuels BECAUSE WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF THEM.
 
to people saying it is true and how so many scientists back it, what about the ice age scare from the 70's? climate change has been in the news for the past hundred years, it pops up about every hundred years and flip flops each time from ice age to global warming. and these credible scientists where probobly backing the 70's scare as real and scientific fact. the climate hasnt changed drasticly at all in the past 100 years, and who are we to feal so godly that we could acctualy affect this planet that drasticly as these global warming people say?

Um. Oil prices really dont dictate how much oil is left. There is tons of oil left. The US and canada has a lot of it too. A lot is in california, even in utah, colorado. There's a lot in florida, and of course alaska. Its just that environmentalists wont let us drill it.

I think going nuclear/wind/solar is something that is great and that our country needs to start doing. Another main thing is green architecture. If we can design homes and commercial buildings to be more effecient, then people will save lots of energy and lots of money. It doesn't even have to be that expensive.
