That's just ignorant. In terms of modern rappers my favorite is probably Logic. How can you consider that "not rap"?? What a weirdly pretentious opinion for a topic like this. Also I grew up listening to the 90's rappers too, you're argument just makes no sense.

LOL. Eminem isn't dark at all. Necro is pretty dark but he sounds like someone who just got out of throat surgery. Most morbid rapper I know of is Brother Lynch Hung. His songs are disturbing.

But I'm not a huge fan of dark style.

I have always been a fan of east coast rap. Mostly Flatbrush Zombies, The Underachievers, etc.

no, because that is just ignorant. there are so many good rappers in the modern (post 2000) era. I'm guessing that because you're a fan of rap before 2000, you're big on lyrics and not so much on beats. in that case, how are you gonna sit there and say that artists such as j cole, Kendrick, eminem, king Los, pusha t, 50 cent (in some cases) aren't "rappers"??

call it whatever you want early eminem has a lot of similarities with the other two. and yes i almost put brotha lynch on that list too, really fucked up lyrics, but he's a really good rapper.

Kendrick in my opinion is one of the best ever. Cliche, Eminem, Tupac, biggie.

However as stupid as it is I love ASAP Rocky and Schoolboy Q even though they represent everything I hate about new era rapping
 
I guess I shouldn't have taken it to not real rap level, I just prefer the way Nate Dog, Snoop, Dre, Busta Rhymes, NWA, ODB, Method Man, Common, etc sound in all their music compared to now a days.

I do listen to some current rap, I just have a hard time getting attached to it maybe its just cause of the whole nostalgia factor.
 
I listen to a good amount of Kendrick and such when I ski, but I think the best rappers of all time are guys like Run, Nas, Eminem, q-tip, LL Cool J, Biggie, etc.
