Allright, for my english class we have to read any biography thats a novel as a summative. I want to take this oppurtunity to learn about someone interesting that I don't know much about. Any recommendations? Here are a few people I was thinking:

Confucius

Socrates

Ghandi

Freud

Hitler but not really

And yeah I dunno that kind of thing...

Does anyone know who has a very interesting life? Or just of any specificially good biographies? Help me out.

yeaaaaahhhhhhh... no

Ghandi, i'm telling you. you'd have so much to write about. the guy opposed british imperial rule in india during the 20th century in a unbelievable, non-violent way.

because he didn't have any posessions. all he wore was a sheet. it was part of the method of his revolt. he's an amazing man, and should have got the title 'man of the century', but oh no, einstein had to get it. why? he's american! duh! but that's besides the point.

ghandi dude.

iono man, if ur into action and a reallllly good read i strongly suggest pullers or hackworths, puller being the most decorated marine in history and hackworth being the most decorated army guy...some of the stories they tell are absolutely unbelievable

read Schindler's List. that's a good one.

but yeah, as for einstein... sure he was born in germany, but that doesn't make him german. he did his schooling in zurich i think and became a swiss citizen. later, he moved back to germany, became a citizen there for like 15 years, then chose to rescind his citizenship and emigrated to america to take the position of professor of theoretial physics at princeton, which is where he became an american citizen from thereon out.

i think the only real 'americans' are the native indians. sure i live here, but i am a quarter norwegian, a quarter scottish, and half german. there is no american in there.

if you can do an autobiography do hunter s. thompson. he is a famous gonzo journalist who commited suicide back in february. he's written several books and there is a lot of info on him. have you ever seen the movie fear and loathing in las vegas?

If you are looking for thinker/philosophers/etc from earlier times, DaVinci would probably be interesting (especially since the was a show creating his drawings - the flying machine flew, and with all the hype over the DaVinci code). Galileo would probably be pretty interesting too (especially with his interaction between science and religion which basically ruled life in ealier times).

life is too short to have any regrets

^ i definatly agree with da vinci but ive already one about ghandi and it was very very good sorta eye opening id suggest that

SKATEBOARDING

yea but da vinci is kind of played out, everyone does him
