i have so much respect for tanner. good interview. his run was really sick, spinning both ways, alley oop and switch. he deserved to win. but at the same time, simons run was sick too. first hit 9 3rd run was absoultely ridiculous. personnally i liked simons run better, but i can see how tanners run one. cant wait for slope.
why would people be booing tanner? simons run was great, especially his first hit, and how much amplitude he got, but tanners was more technical, had more style, more inverts and stuff, more hits, left and right spins, he had all those things over simon, the only thing simon did better was getting more air. so simon has tanner beat in one catagory, tanner has simon beat in 5 catagorys, tanner definatly deserved to win.
i think they may have just been booing the judges cause whoever that was, i think josi, got judged bad, and they were already pissed at the judges.
but you would have to be a dumbass to think simon should have won.

the thing with tanner is that people find him so easy to hate. i was watching the superpipe live and the man is a robot, when it came time for his run it wasnt intense at all. i was just thinking "great another flawless run". dumont somehow managed to catch the attention of the crowd by showing he CAN make mistakes. ironically this got tanner booed in the end.

That's a very touching moment with his parents. It's good see that some athletes still put family as a top priority. The booing last night shows the bullshit double standard in the industry. Everyone says Newschoolers.com and the east is full of hate but last night was proof that it's not just "us" its everyone.
Guys like Tanner are awesome and I'm glad we have him in this sport. I hope he wins 7 more medals and keeps killing it in the backcountry. Armada has a good team because it's built on character and not just talent and talk. Lots of people can be skiers but after last night it looks like only a few people can be classy. Thanks T and good work!

I have sooo much respect for Tanner. There isn't anyone I wanted to win more than Tanner just because of all the hate he has persevered through and Tanner is a professional athlete at their best. He works so hard and he can do anything. The props go to you now Tanner thanks for all you have done and all you will do in the future. Can't wait for your next film.

with the sport apparently moving in the direction of switch tricks and unnaty shit, how come laurent farve didnt win 2 years ago? nothing a gaisnt tanner, props to him but i mean laurent was murdering everyone at these tricks, maybe it was just to ahead of the times but

laurent was just too far inhead of the time. Judging was based on spin big and get air factor in one direction versus switch and unnatural

I agree - what about skiers just being happy that skiers are doing well? It was an amazingly high-standard comp - if you feel that Dumont should have won, be unhappy with the judges, not Tanner Hall.

Agreed. Tanner fucking slayed it. I cannot believe how people booed him...but, like others have said, I really hope that he reads all these threads and posts and realizes that that crowd was WAY out of line, and doesn't respect or know skiing like the kids on here do. Props Tanner. You deserved that. You're a fucking beast at pipe. And thank you Jon for having this blog. I think watching this will change some people's opinions on the guy, if they're at all negative. We're all skiers here..it's about time people acted like it. Congrats Tanner!

I think Tanner deserves way more than winning, he deserves the respect of you guys, our whole community, i mean this guy has done so much for skiing he cant be booed also considering de fact that he skis pow before praticing pipe. And if you know what youre talking about in PIPE skiing (cause a lot of NS people dont even do pipe skiing but only jibbing) i dont even know how this guy can be hated and Yess simon got amplitude but what else. Simon has the secret to impress fans, Tanner the secret to impress judges and win, thats all you need to know and thats always the way its gonna be as long as tanner will be in the game. And all of you haters just shut the fuck up untill you meet him cause he's one of the nicest guy i've ever speaken with.

that was a really good interview with him. at first i thought simon shouldve have won but once i realized how technical tanners tricks were, i agree with his gold. i think its kind of sad though how shitty he felt at the end of his run. he just won gold yet he was sad that people were booing at him. not cool

From the view at the bottom of the pipe for the rich yuppies of aspen who don't understand this sport, it would seem like Simon should have won because he went bigger. They booed Tanner because they didn't know what his run actually consisted of, to them it just seemed liked he did the same as Simon but smaller. If i were Tanner I'd quit competitions for good and ski pow all year.

to quit competitions just because there's going to be some ignorant in person spectators would be a very childish thing to do in my opinion. he should know that the majority of the newschool skiing community does not reside at hand in vail. the reaction of the crowd was undeniably all for dumont though, they were going crazy his WHOLE run.

i dont understand how people can be booing tanner, he has done the most for sport out of anyone, he is a nice person (unlike simon) and his run was better, no questions. the people were probably booing cause they have no idea what they are seeing, and to them, simon went bigger, and thats all they care about, but really tanners run obviously took much more skill and he totally deserved 1st.

i hate all these little kids who think they know skiiing because they watch the x games and have been in a park that are on dumonts dick. I cant beleive Tanner got booed, it made me sick. People need to understand style and technicality because all these little kids understand is how much a guy spins and how high he goes. congrats Tanner, you definatly desrved it!
