Great excerseze for increasing jumping power, balance, and spin controll

I am by no means a pro or even competitive park rat but today I

invented a great way of excersizing in preparation for the jumps and

jibs.

All

you need is a floor, two couch cushions, and a bunch of empty space.

Its

really simple actually, place the cushions apart form each other

(whatever distance you desire) and start hopping back and forth

trying to land nicely balanced in the very center of the cushion.

Then start varying your jumps by throwing in some spins and grabs.

Its

similar to tramp excersizes but with the added difficulty of having

to aim at a desired landing zone, and the fact that you are trying to

leap off of thick shock absorbing cushions really works your jumping

muscles HARRRRD!

haha dang, i say its time for a little cieling removal =p! lol. but actually, its supprizingly hard to jump very high like this

ugh my spelling is really off today. probly cuz of my lack of sleep for the past 40 hours.

anyways, I think thie excersize is really similar to "plyometrics" it really gets your breathing and hart rate going as well, feels good.

You know its funny... as jock-rock as exercising and training seems, it actually can really help your skiing. You can see it in the pros bigtime... the ones that work out, exercise and train their muscles are much more agile and able to stick landings. It also really helps to avoid injuries, and makes chicks dig you.

We should make like a "jibbers workout" video... imagine how fucking hilarious that would be?

i might add you'll want carpet for this one. bare floor with couch cushions could lead to you slipping out. this means bashing the head on bare floor. bashing your head on the bare floor is never funny, unless if it's caught on tape of course. but still, fair warning.

It works well our coaches make us do it on wobble boards. Once you get good. incorperate spins on the spot on the cushions then doing 180's and 360's in the air is good.

word to that doug, Ive been lifting every night before going to bed this fall, and ive only been on skis twice and so far i notice a big difference

ye the only time your muscles grow is when you rest, some fitness regimes make u go 3 week of givin balls, then 1 week of stretching, yoga, and all around chillaxin.

Stretching and exercising are so key. Wish I'd started with that stuff years ago it makes such a difference. You have so much more control over your body, you can save almost any trick, land the unlandable, and grab the ungrablable

Haha cuz the pain comes and goes, i fucked it up on the tramp i took a big bounce and my knee absorbed all of it and buckled, everynow and again i fuck it up again and have a bit of a hobble for a week but for some reason i haven't fucked it up skiing yet, i just don't want to get back on a tramp worried that the same thing will happen.

yeah seriously....but lift everything....chest, back, shoulders, arms and legs. i've been lifting 4-5 days a week for years now and it makes the biggest difference ever.
its sad that so many "jibbers" are such skinny small kids cuz with some muscle it really improves every aspect of your skiing, not to mention better chances of walking away alright from crashes.

i've started doing a regimen of working hard one night, then working light the next. because i'm going light, i'm not straining my muscles and they still heal and build (also eating a lot of protein), but this seems to keep definition better than my old program of only working out every other day, and my results are more dramatic in less time.

yea iv been workin out lifting for the psat 2 years makes a humungous different less injuries, more fit, just better in skiing and other sports and everyday life

sry for double post but no ddr is not good its ok cardio i guess if ur on the highest level lol but u gotta get out and actually do somethin man

the best workout ever is trying to skate in your ski boots. always hilarious and nearly impossible.

i can land kickflips though CLAIM

well i hadnt slept for like 30 hours, then when i got back form class i found my roomates had been having a war. or a semi gay wrestling match... who knows, but the cushions were all over the floor. so im like "hey i wonder if i could do plyo on these, so i started jumping around, and then i started doing spins and grabs and made the connection to skiing.
