Great Divides features

As of last weekend they had one lift and one run with 300 vertical feet. Where they made snow it seemed to be consistent. They had some really fun features. From what I can remember they had two of those wooden spine things from wild wood, a flat down box, flat down flat rail, flat down rail, down urban style rail and a stall/ spine/ hip thing at the bottom that was pretty fun. I was talking with Pope a little and he said they were going to try and have more stuff up for this weekend.

Good Luck lift will be open this weekend so hopefully that includes wild wood;

Good snowfall & great snowmaking temperatures

We will open a trail down CUB, Sunnyside & Broadway more than 4,000' long with 9 features for this weekend

Friday noon-9pm for just $9. Saturday & Sunday 9am-4pm $19

gd had a lot of sick stuff set up. they had a really fun flat down box, an assortment of rails, and a quarterpipe thing with a big slideable, stallable tube on it. it also had a little hip on the end of it. if that makes any sense at all.

GD's set up is fucking legit for this early in the season.
last weekend was so dope, can't wait for this weekend.
shreddin big sky tomorrow morning, GD tomorrow night and all weekend. hope to see you guys up there.

GD is real dope right now. A bunch of fun jibs in a row. If I wasn't so beat up I'd be up there today. Only 9 bucks!

...pretty sure that covered it... if i left any out feel free to add.
but, it's early, we barely have any snow, and this set up is LEGIT !

GD was pretty sick. Was a little icy but nice features. Was good to finally hit the first rail of the season, other than we lost our keys.

it wasn't icy at all today. bluebird and soft...
did you go up last night or something? bummer about your keys too man, that's never any fun. been there, done that.

haha that was funny! then today they locked them in there with the car running! you have smart friends ;)i think i saw you... if you where the skier of the group?!

ha yeah I was the smart one who drove my own car full with that group and didnt loose my keys haha..they loved the set up but what an experience for them haha

i had fun a GD yesterday, set up was real fun, the only thing was the jump the flat down box sucked, but other than that it kicked ass

I'm sure bro, as this is Joe Pope's last weekend as our park manager at GD. At least that's the rumor I've heard. Shit's weak! He has done such a good job with everything... Off to snoqualmie for him.

yesterday was so cold i didnt get to really ride. i took a run and went in and warmed up. at the beginning of the day a liftie said it was -35 with windchill. and it felt like it just got colder.

great divide is looking sick, maybe best park in the state right now...wild wood is set up really nice, rascal was good last weekend, and their site says they're opening rodeo park (the bigger one) this weekend! gonna be sick

my girlfriend rode their today and said it sucked... that they took out everything and put 1 flat box back in and a flat rail... she said nobody was working on rodeo yet either, which is disappointing. but i'm keepin my fingers crossed that this loss of joe pope doesn't become a burden for GD

ya i guess not. can't really trust their website. it was fun last weekend for sure, but if they took everything out and haven't started working on anything.... that is lame

^ i was there last weekend and the snow was ok still rocks and the park fucking blew dick ride on up box and the urban that was it and wildwood wich was all fukd up from gapers and 2 of the gayest jumps ive ever hit

^agree, as much as i hate to say it they need pope back or somebody that can build shit and run a fuking cat cause shit sux now

truth be told... i always have a fucking blast every time i'm there. as opposed to shredding big sky where everyone criticizes and critiques your skiing... bottom line, GD is fun shit... but i'm with ya on the park slowly slipping downhill... i hope it doesn't continue to suck

ughh saturday marks the day of the last of my skiing at Big Mountain. I now get to come to the Mediocre Divide. I have no hate for it, but is sucks compared to Big Mountain. I do however like the people more at Great Divide compared to Big Mountain.

Who built the park in 05-06 and 06-07 seasons? I know it wasn't Pope because he was at BS. The park those years seemed real legit. Don't get me wrong, Pope is a great worker and seemed to do alot (Wildwood, skiercross course, absurdly awesome early season park this fall, etc..) But the Rodeo park seems like it hasn't changed a whole lot in the last 3-4 seasons.

i have no clue who built it in the past but ive rode the gd every winter since the 5th grade and it only got better when he was there, and im with pat i see it goin in the same direction as showdown, isnt that where pope started????

yup, showdown had easily the best park in the state. even had an 80 foot table. and the burton team came to showdown. but once pope left, we aint got shit. and i heard the owner is putting less money into the park this year then ever, hopefully this doesnt happen to gd

The reason Pope left is some kid broke his back on the said 80 footer, sued Showdown and won. That next season we really didnt have a park but its slowly gotten better since then. I remember when the Burton team was there. That was at the (I think) second Montana Snowboard Championship and the guy who won the big air did a double backflip which was a pretty big deal back then. I also remember Rivers getting first in the amateur division when he was like 11 or 12. Showdown used to have such a dope park...

In terms of RODEO, it's pretty hard to do anything super creative and different in there. The location is super steep and basically what you see is what you get. The last jump out of the pipe is always legit, and of course the down bar, but again, not much you can do with how steep and narrow it is.

For the park declining, I would have to dissagree. Yes, Pope left, and personally I think he did one hell of a job. From what he had to work with, not just feature wise, and from what he started with, he improved things immensely. Now that he has left, we have a general direction in where we want the park to go. Crawford loves to ski, the new park manager, and his passion will come through in his features I guaruntee it. He has been around the scene for quite a while, and knows what he his doing.

As for early season, our set up was the best in the state. Again, personal opinion, but prove me wrong. Maybe Moonlight had something to offer, but generally speaking... Anywho, GD is a fun place to shred, Wildwood is certainly rad, and the mountain definitely does not blow with good snow.

shit was mad icy tonight and same set up as last week jumps were a lil better this week tho but hard as a fucking rock
