Ive just finished reading a book called 'Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance'. What a book, its is absoulutly amazing suck an insight into out exsistance and our perception of reality. I thouroughly recomend that everyone should read this book. It will change how you think. Anyone else read this book? Or has anyone here read a book that they thought was truly awesome?

Any thoughts of other recomendations would be cool

One of my favorite books is 'Dancing Naked in the Mindfield' by Dr. Kerry Mullis........he is brilliant ,most deffinately thinks outside the box. He won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in '93 (he invented DNA fingerprinting- the patent for that process sold for $300,000,000.00.) He surfs every day, he's a womanizer,he used to make his own acid(LSD),he was also the DNA expert in the OJ trial.His views on AIDS and scientific testing + statistics are extremely informative and eye opening. So if you can wrap your head around it ..... it's an awesome book. For an entertaining read ,sex ,drugs , rock'n'roll , check out 'Wonderland Ave.' it's written by Danny Sugarman - at 16 yrs. old he was befriended by Jim Morrision ,started touring w/ them (doors) and became their road manager. Pure excess and debauchery.{if you liked The Doors movie - based on the book 'No One Here Gets Out Alive' ,Wonderland Ave is a way better story}

Seriously,it's a great book and a super quick read.(go to Amazon and read peoples comments about the book- there's a ton+ lots say it's the best book they have ever read.

I recently read ''The Blue Nowhere'' and couldn't put it down. It's amazing. Its written by the author of ''The Bone Collector'' and is a murder chase about hackers and the net.

^ hey im reading catch 22 right now, im only a few chapters in and its quite a hard read cos the style of wrting makes it quite hard to follow. But im told its excellent. Ive also read touching the void which i thought was an amazing battle against the elements and the odds for survival. Good to see people reading excellent books. Has no one read zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance though??

'The Da Vinci Code' and 'Angels and Demons' by Dan Brown.

'Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics...Even if you win, you're still retarded'

the da vinci code was a really interesting read. i would suggest anything by albert camus. that is, if you're up for some purely existential reading.

has anyone here read the celestine prophecy by james redfeild?? it changed the way i live my life... informative, and entertaining... but it was great.

life of pi, and anything by hunter s. thompson is good as well

Life of Pi- Yann Martel

Incredible book about this kid from india who is stuck on a liferaft with a bengal tiger, an orangutan, a hyena and a zebra with a broken leg. The author was a philosophy major in university and has some amazing ideas.

I'm a genius. Listen to me.

Da Vinci code: This book has a decent, fictional plot-line. The real point of the book is to promote certain theories on the catholic religion and the holy grail (get ready for a surprise) that may be true, but that are yet unproven.

Empire Falls: It won a Pulitzer for crying out loud.

All the King's men: smart people only.

The Stand by Stephen King (uncut edition). Very very good, his others are good too, but this is the best of his that I have read.

ANYTHING by Orwell, or Poe. My 2 time fav writers. Fear and loathing las vegas was pretty good, and timeline was just ill.

Anything by Chuck Palahniuk. He wrote Fight Club, the book actually was better than the movie, as cliche as it sounds. He also wrote Choke, Survivor, Invisible Monsters, and Lullaby. They are all really good books with good stories. I also read a lot of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Cat's Cradle is my favorite book by him, but I am reading The Sirens of Titan right now, and it's looking pretty good.

to the dude who said fear and loathing... what did you get from that book? i have my own thoughts i just want to see what you got out of it..

the little prince is a very interestingly deep book by antoines st. duxpry (sp?). dont just glance over it, give it a chance. and a brave new world by aldous huxley. like 1984 but more entertaining. or howabout the old man and the sea? or even, in a pinch if all the old newspapers are in the trash, i guess you could read the lord of the rings. only if you absolutely have to though.

'One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain'

hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by douglas adams is absolutely hilarious and another really good read is Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Album and also i am reading for a class right now is a play called W;t very good
