Alright, so my mom just got angry at me for not starting a paper and talked to me about my grades. What kind of grades do you need to get into a decent college?

you need a solid 80% average to get into most universities in Alberta, Canada or maybe higher depending on the school/program.

I have a 3.0 average so far in my high school career. I take hard classes and have never had a study hall so I filled my extra requirements this year, junior. I'm not looking to get into a good college, just something I can get a solid base from. Hopefully I have the talent and skill to get into the ski industry, probly not acually skiing though.

In Canada, a University is a four year school and a college is more of a trade/technical school that's 2 years. (correct me if I'm wrong).

In the US, it's often a difference of Size and amount of schools within the actual university, while a college is not an attempt at dividing itself up into different schools.

Be aware that there is a very distinct difference in terminology between the USA and the rest of the world. In the US, there is very little difference academically between a "college" and a "university". Universities are usually larger and often contain multiple "colleges" within them. However, some of the top-ranked schools in the US have a name including "college" (ex. Dartmouth College). In other parts of the English-speaking world, the term "university" equates to the US use of "college" and the term "college" refers more to a trade or vocational school, so I guess it doesn't really matter and you could really use either or

SO true. maybe a little extreme but true. Also, don't waste your money on private colleges. Yes, they'll land you a better job right away, but you'll still have to work hard. and without a master's or MBA (in the business world) you won't get anywhere. Now getting THAT at a good school is important.

As for grades...good grades = money. In all aspects. I get scholarships without even applying for them now. I just get them for having the highest GPA in the program, in my class, etc. Employers don't want to hire idiots either. I'm 2.5 years into the program, working as an accountant already and just scheduled another interview with a CPA firm for some tax work soon. The chair of the accounting dept. just sent them my resume without me even asking for it.

dude, you can get into college with a 2.5 or less, dont listen to these people. there is always a school that will accept you... if you're really concerned, apply to montana state and you pretty much automatically get in.

3.0 should cut it. hell if you have a 2.0 you can get into most state schools.

seriously high school does not really matter. if you dont know what you want to do just go to a state or county school and get good grades. then once you figure out what you want to do transfer to the best school you can for that major.
