Grades, How fucked am I?

So I've had a GPA of about 3.1-3.3 throughout most of highschool. I'm a sophomore. I had mostly B's first semester. Now I have only a 3.048 for 3rd quarter and those are going to go down. I'm looking at putting another C or two onto the one I already have (and a C+). I take a lot of hard classes and I feel like I got fucked this semester and can improve to about a 3.4 next year. If I can do that, how much are my shitty grades this year and last gonna hurt me later in life? Just kinda curious and really sketched out.

damn, im in the same boat dude, i got so lazy this year, im a sophy too, my average dropped from 90's to about mid 80s high 70s, french is destroying me and chem is just hard. You really have to start getting them up, especially next year, if colleges see that you're grades have improved significantly they'll look at you, but still keep you shuffled with other applicants for college. or you can turn black and be really good at football or basketball and you wont have to worry about a thing..

good luck

god knows i need it

just work rly hard junior senior year colleges wont liek the gpa u r getting now but if u show like 3.9 4.0 next 2 years they will see how you tried hard to improve and can actually be a good student

Meh your only a sophomore, It really matter during your 2 last years of high school. Just do realyl well then

yeah that sucks for you, actaul not really, its still decent, im so happy i go to my school, the average GPA of kids that get into BC is a 3.4 that means some are lower some are higher, my friend got in last year with a 3.2 and 1260 out of 1600 on the SAT and he had no connections

im a senior and am graduating in about 2 weeks with an 91 average over all, my school doenst go by gpa for some reason so i dont know what that converts to, i think maybe like 3.2 or something like that. But i got accepted into every school i applyed to except colorado school of mines for civil engeneering. That incudes U of U CU, Montana state and plymouth state in nh. So with a 3.4 you should be able to get into almost anything becides an ivy leauge.

People have totally different standards and expectations dude, if some of my friends got my grades, they should shit themselves, cry, and slit their wrists.

I'm thinking I have a chance to get a 28-30 on the ACT, how's the SAT in relation? I know there are threads but I'm lazy.

i screwed up my grades. im hoping to get half decent grades in grade 12 so i can get into a semi decent school and move away from here.

Honestly it doesn't really matter. You are absolutely not fucked for the rest of your life. You're in high school, go sneak out of your parents house and smoke some pot or something. Trust me you'll have plenty of chances to prove whatever you want once you're at a university.

No worries there man, fuck Ivy League and those cocky pricks, they can die in a hole. I just want 4 years of collage so I can get a decent job with lots of opportunity for advancement.

Haha dude, don't worry too much about it. I was mostly a 3.8ish student for the first two years of high school and then i came through with a lovely 2.75 last year. I still got into the college I wanted to (Michigan Tech), and I recovered with a 3.4 the first semester of this year and I'm gonna get a 3.5-4.0 this semester.

I guess it really just depends on how competitive the schools you're looking at are. And just for reference, I did get into the U of M too, but it was off the extended wait list.

Dude, going directly to a 4 year college out of high school is so overrated. Just relax, go to a 2 year junior or community college and transfer wherever the fuck you want.

good advice, if I had taken that advice at the beginning of this year I would have done Independent Study again instead of going back to HS. I would have been able to work a job, ski more, and would have had better grades. I was worried good 4 year schools would frown on a diploma from Independent Study but I now realize it doesn't fucking matter.

So save your money, ski more, and go to a JC.

i got a full ride scholarship with only a 3.54 GPA, then again I had a shit ton of college credits coming out of high school. Youre only a sophomore, you still have a lot of time. For the next two years just do better and put more time into it. It really isn't too difficult. Schools are becoming increasingly selective, and a college education is more of a requirement than an option, might as well make the best use of it.

Stop slacking off. This year doesn't matter, but junior and senior year do. Keep on top of your shit and you'll be fine. At least that way you'll know you did your best and not continually say "damn if only i'd tried harder"

Actually it does. I didn't get into the 4 year I wanted because of getting a 3.4 sophomore year. I had a 4.2 Junior year. Oh and Senior Year doesn't matter either really as long as you don't fall off the deep end.

dude, dont worry, alot of different factors play into getting into college. geographic diversity, race, the difficulty of the classes you took, extracurriculars, wether or not your gpa is weighted. honestly, and 3.0 and above is fairly competitive for most decent schools. dont be expecting ivies, but i mean, there are tons of different factors. and for gpa, it can be hard to tell; the average gpa at for people accepted to princeton is 3.85, and the average for people accepted to ucla is a 4.15. your fine, dont worry, really.

I keep forgetting that it's different in America.

Universities only see our junior and senior marks here. And Senior is the year that matters the most.

Junior year is the most important, because you typically apply for college fall of senior year. Just do really good junior year. 3.0 and above is good enough for a lot of colleges though, so I wouldn't fret about it unless you have stanford/duke/CU etc. in your options. All you have to really do is get in any university, and then what really matters are your grades once you're in. SO concentrate on being smart in college.

yeh im at like a even 3.0 right now for junior year, i try not to worry about it if you arent smart find other ways to make yourself look good like volunteer or somethin

basically my theory is that if you're white, completed highschool, show some obvious intelligence, having writing skills, are at least middle class, have some unique talents (video editing, media production etc) one way or another you'll be ok in life and eventually set, no matter how you fuck up grades or get kicked out of schools...

and no im not racist I just mean the truth is that it would be more difficult to succeed in what I just said if you were, say russian or arab
