Grade 2 Acl Tear

Hey NS,

I was looking for some advice/inspiration/immature humor/CATZZZ or unnecessary anger for a grade 2 (partial) acl tear. I've done a lot of research (googling) on it and opinions seem to be all over the place with recovery time, if surgery is necessary etc. I was just curious to see if anyone has experienced this and what the rehab was like, or if they took the route of having surgery even though it wasn't fully ruptured. I tore my other acl 2 years ago and had surgery which SUCKED so i'm hoping to avoid that. Obviously I'm going to discuss this with my orthopedic surgeon but I'm impatient and like to hear what other peoples docs have suggested for them.

Thanks ski pimps.

I made a pamphlet about acl tears in grade 12 exercise science would you like to read it?

There are different "kinds" of grade 2 tears. If only one ligament has a partial tear then you should just ice it and lay off strenuous activity (obviously including skiing) for anywhere between 2-5 weeks. Give it about a week after the pain upon flexing your knee is gone.

If more than one ligament is torn, or if the ACL is quite torn, then you will be advised surgery, and you should probably take that advice.
