government programs

i'm pretty right-sided, and i apologize if i offend anyone, but i just wanted to see what everyone thinks about these democratic gov't programs, specifically social security and welfare. i guess they look good on paper, but the programs are wrong in my opinion. about 15.6% of your paycheck goes into these (and other related) programs, and if you're a working class american, you most likely wont see much of it in the end. it's the people who dont feel like working who are getting your money.

also, my idea of welfare is helping people find jobs, not encouraging them not to. once again, i just wanted to see if anyone else had an opinion

 
i don't know about welfare, but we can't get rid of social security. for one, because the money that should be in it is already gone and two because americans havent, and wont save enough to keep them going in retirement. that said, knowing that i wont get any of it, i get pretty pissed seeing 20% of my pay check disappear too.

I say we start the Soilent Green Plan! If you've never seen the movie or the Simpsons I guess you have some research to do...

 
in my opinion, which is from the left, there is no reason why a government and citizens shouldn't take care of those less fortunate in society. i'm not saying we should have to pay for people who 'don't feel like working' but those that are in need of a little something in order to survive or feed their families should be able to receive assistance. who knows, a few layoffs or some really bad luck and most families could find themselves in a position where they need help from government programs. i don't mind a small percentage of my paycheck going to help people if they really do need it.
