i think my dad summed it up pretty well. "i am never buying a GM car again" (this from the man who for my entire life has driven a GM car)

who gives a shit? its GM... outside of the Corvette GM sells nothing but garbage... seriously, my old work truck was a chevy and the fucker broke down once a week... and it was a 2005....

Chevys are real shit. We had a Suburban and it was nothing but shit. It was a waste of metal.
 
i still dont really give a fuck... honestly, its not like i have a say in what happens to my tax dollars after i pay them so really, i dont give a fuck. as long as i get my tax return, i can drive my '84 bronco and piss hippies off, ski, and play my video games i couldnt give a damn.
 
you guys are missing it... lets say the cars are shit... if they are in your mind. you should be even more livid than i am. (i own a chevy) because now YOUR money. or at the very least your parents money, is now being used to build piece of shit cars.
 
its not like we really have a say in what happens to our money after we pay taxes so for me personally bitching about it wont do any good so i choose not to worry.

oh, and that work truck... we took it up in the hills and put a couple of .44 magnum, .300 winchester magnum, and .45 bullets in it engine block at the car graveyard...... thing was such a sack of shit. seriously, dodge, or ford actually build crap that when it breaks down its down for good but doesnt KEEP blowing minor things, or build diesels that sound like pussy ass gas motors.
 
fucken stupid ass cars for the most part there so ugly peice of craps besides the corvette basically and they are all almost identical cars between companies of gm so they fail in all parts
 
think of it this way... if the money is already gone why are you bitching about your chevy truck? its gone and bitching wont bring it back....

sounds to me you received a poor return on your investment... so IMO you should be mad...

My history with GM

My dad has always been a GMC guy, which means most of our cars have been GM.

In 1990 (I was 4) he bought a 1990 suburban. (he previously had a blazer).

in 2002 he bought a yukon XL and a yukon XL Denali (balla)

2 years ago he bought a Zo6, sickest car ever.

Now I have graduated college, and I have the 1990 suburban with me. My WRX has been in the shop since january getting several engine rebuilds. The suburban runs fantastic, besides looking like a crushed beer can (in highschool I did some "ultra-mobbin" in it), and a leak in the power stearing.

The Yukon has been in the shop about 5 times for engine problems.

The Denali is starting to have some problems.

The Corvette will beat a fighter jet in a race.

GM has, and still can design good cars, though definately has F'd it up a bit. personally I beleive in survival of the best. especially in our economy. if a company makes bad decisions, and sells a bad product, why should they maintain?

The problem is the jobs of Americans to be lost with the dissapearance of the company, especially in such stressful economic times.

But isnt GM production in Mexico?

Oh yeah, my girlfriend just dumped me, and we live together, so its been quite stressful and ive been drinking vodka ice. (that is vodka + ice cubes)

Anyways; We have put a lot of miles on the cars. The corvette is badass, so all the respect to it. The suburban has taken a family of 6 to LA about 50 times (from northern california), and countless ski trips. it gets me to school, has a little lean on one side, ive busted 3 windows mobbin, and jumped it.

The denali was pimp, but has a lot of miles on it, and hasnt really been taken care of

The yukon is a peice of shit.

Oh yeah, and the dealership issued me a Chevy Cobalt rental since my car has been in the shop, it it is the sweetest ride ever. I don't even want my subaru back. Cobalt FTW.

well, i didnt straight up buy the truck either... City of Bellingham owned the truck we just had to pay for the ammunition to bury the fucking sack of crap.....
 
I'm to the point where I honestly don't want to give a fuck anymore. Obama is not the president I thought he was going to be (don't think I'm hating on him though). I just feel like citizens don't matter anymore. At least not any demographic other than the older generation. Obama could give two shits what well over half the country think about marijuana laws and I'm sure he doesn't care about what any one thinks, other than if they like him or not.

It just seems like this presidency is just continuing what our old one did. Handing out loads of cash to people who don't deserve it. Not giving people the whole story, covering shit up. I swear we've never had an honest president. Just once I wish we had a dude or gal who would straight up talk to the people rather than giving some bullshit speech with no real substance to it. Give us your honest opinion rather than some political rhetoric.

I've really lost a lot of faith in this country and can't wait to explore the world after college.
 
For sure man! I'll be graduating hopefully in 4 years (fucking graduate school) and then I'm determined not to set foot in the United States till at least 5 years after graduation.

dude... i drive around in government trucks all day...... they get BEAT TO HELL. i wouldnt judge an entire car company based on one work truck....
 
ive got at least 3-4 years in front of me and then probably another 5... fucking law school... but i was planning on taking a year or two off, work for 6 months, then go skiing in Japan, NZ, Austrailia, France (gf from France), and Austria.....

hell yeah id be game... i threw up in NZ once on my way to Australia during a 2 hour layover while they cleaned and fueled the plane... EVEN have a airport Tshirt (that i dont fit in anymore....)
 
im basing it on friends cars too... like i know one guy that was a diehard GM dude but his new truck just keep shitting the bed so he went and bought a Ford... which is like a hangable offense for GM fans...

this game goes all ways though... like for instance. my grandparents were on a road trip in their couple year old mercury van and it shit a brick and needed a new torque converter. ( a couple grand)

likewise ive got friends who have pissed away tons of money into their little tin can honda's.

i do agree the F150 is a pretty bomber truck.. i know a handful of people who drive them and they couldnt be happier..
 
i love my 84 bronco... except i need to replace the valve gaskets and probably give the engine a good overhaul but considering everything in it except the belts, oil filter, battery, and alternator are all straight from the factory i would say its doing damn good.
 
while i support the bailout, (the amount of jobs that would be lost would be catastrophic in an already struggling economy), i really hope the government does not get overly involved in the running of GM. i dont mind things like where they asked whats his face to step down a while ago, but if they get into the day to day buisness of the company, that spells disaster. its going to get overly political, and every member of congress is going to be looking not for the good of the company, but the good of their constituency, and their career.

however i think once Chrysler is gone, (inevitable) things will improve for GM
 
I've always been a used car guy, so as far as I'm concerned im still sticking with Mopar and GMs older vehicles which were fucking tanks. The only solid GM truck i've driven from the last 10 years has been the S10, Silverados, and the new Canyon.
Every Ford Ive seen has been rusted to hell, or easily on its way.
 
haha you bring a good point the mid 90s silverado's killed it...

my uncle still has a 90 silverado as a farm truck.. like you said its a tank...
 
all like pre 1997 cars, trucks, and vans were built like fucking tanks with steal frames and bodies.....
 
i used to have a 98 neon that could of been taken to the woods of Vietnam and survived the war. that shit was a tank. my brother still actually drives it and we got it when we turned 17. atleast put on 100,000 miles since then

Fucking rights it is. Although, any Chevy pre-85 is much better quality than anything newer than that. Although, my pops work van is bomber. It carries a tit load and still slays big hills.

And for the Chrysler thing, it sucks. No more Jeeps. Right now, our family has 3, 2 of which are mine, and they are amazing vehicles. Last forever.

Also Greg, the city truck probably always broke down not because of it being a Chevy, or it being a piece of shit, it was probably just beat to fuck by people that don't care about the vehicles cuz they dont have to pay for repairs. Any vehicle if used roughly, will break.

something GM needs to fix now, is the ridiculous running of virtually the same car, under like 3 different brands. i cant think of any of the examples off the top of my head, but they do it all the time, and its a royal waste of money
 
not to hate, but the corvette kind of sucks too...

for the same price you can get a reasonably filthy Maserati... which ups the baller/tail procuring quotient by at least 150%
 
the escalade, Yukon, Tahoe...

i think they really got away from GMC trucks vs silverados.. i havent seen a GMC Sierra in awhile. i could be wrong though.

then you have Saturn.. but who drives a Saturn? hahahaha

ford does the same thing too with their lincon, mercury, ford lineup too.

then you have the chrysler, aspen, dodge durango, deal.. along with the dodge caravan and chrysler town and country... although ive been told they put a little pussy engine in the caravan vs the chrysler.
 
ide agree that it seems weird.. but ide be interested to see what their numbers are on some of those.... like are they making money off the escalade because some rich dude wants a caddie vs a chevy like the rest of us schmuks drive..... so ide imagine GM would make atleast some money in that market otherwise youre right i dont know know why they would sell 3 of the same cars. each falling into a presumably different class.
 
the escalade and yukon are the same car, yes. however the tahoe is not. the tahoe is actually built on a 4wd rather than awd platform, so it is more truck like and less car-luxury like. it also is easier to fix when an axle or something breaks, rather than fucking with the whole system like you must do with awd
 
they are being smart about it at least, getting rid of hummer and all the shit cars, just go back to the basics.
 
I think it's good in the fact that GM can't keep making the same shit and go bankrupt only to be bailed out 3 months later. It's bad because it's progressing socialism, government telling companies what they can and cannot make. There's certainly two sides to the argument.
