Government Funding/Grants

How do you go about getting them? I have a little business filming and shooting photo's, and i want a new video camera, but dont have the cash. At first i was like, why the fuck would the government give me money to do that, but then i found out a guy i know got 1500 bucks from them to sell used bicycle parts out of his garage. Does anyone know how to go about getting a grant? BTW this is in ontario.
 
my mom has gotten a couple for educational stuff in the US, but idk about Canada. It usually involves writing an essay or competitions, but i would check with the branch or department that specializes in giving them out.
 
Is it really a business? Are you selling a product or are you just filming skiing? Im sure there must be a way if that clown got 1500 bucks! good luck. I think the main thing will be put forward a convincing presentation. or you could get a job. but i think i like your idea more!
 
unfortunately my friend, i do not have the 5+ k for the camera seeing as all my money goes towards school. I normally would feel guilty doing something like this, but these loans are made for things exactly like this. I am legitimately trying to start a small film company, and could use the new camera. But hey, its your own opinion
