Skiing aint just for winter, skiing can be done on sand, if you live near a dune and have some old wasted skis do it, i do, heres a few vids and pics i found in the net-

Could we create freestyle sand skiing?!?
 
Some guys round here have tried it with snowboards, i think they laminated their base or something stupid like that so it wouldnt fuck it up, but i think the best idea is to go to your local dump and see if they have had any skis lately and get them for free or very little money.
 
Yeah it did really, i told you how to prevent the base from getting fucked, but probaly two or three sessions without lamination.
 
THAT answered my question.

I was just curious, using normal skis, about how long it would take before you worn off the base material from friction with the sand and were riding on your wooden cores. I wasnt asking about where to find junk skis...I have plenty of those.
 
ive heard that lemon pledge is good to spray on your bases for sand skiing. there are apparently some dunes in idaho a couple hours from where i live, so i really want to go shred there this summer
 
When my parents were ski instructing at Taos, my dad played around with a number of sand skiing materials in the summer. Apparently sheets of formica attached to ski bases slides really well. I'll see if I can throw up some pics.
 
Ive actually sandboarded before at florence. Its really fun at first then you fall and sand gets in between your ass cheeks and in your boots. When it gets in your boots it can pretty much just shred all the skin of the base of your feet..

But seriously, dont just go to any dune and strap on. Dunes are actually mad important to a ton of ecosystems and just walking on them can cause them to get fucked.

It's a bad idea, just cop some turf and build a set up in your back yard for under $100 if you can't survive without being on your skis or board, or wait till the game comes out, or support one of the summer camps, but DONT fuck up the environment more then it already is.

Unless your a master grinder, then its ok. AHAHAHAHAHAHHA.
 
Good point, karma + for making us aware of that. Seriously though, I don't think that will help your skiing too much ahahaha. Try making a rail instead.
