Got offered a dvx100a

if you're looking for a standard def camera, this is the way to go. 300 hours is pretty high. I don't know where you live, but you can often find DVX100a or b on craigslist for around that price, maybe a bit higher, and many of them have almost no hours (below 50). It's meant to live past 1000 hours, but just the fact that his camera has 300 hours on it means that it's been used alot, and may have seen some wear and tear. If the camera is in good physical condition, as well as 100% working condition, go for it.

PS, if you buy it, buy a cheap MiniDV camera (if you don't already have one) and use it to upload your footage. It's better for the camera heads to not replay lots of footage, and it also keeps the hours low.
 
You're gonna have to give a little more detail on the "extra lenses" aspect. This can make a good deal into an extremely good deal depending on what kinda lenses they are throwing in.
 
hmm heres the thing... You wont be getting the same quality out of your shots as a new one thats for sure. 300 hours on the heads is definitely going to give you lots of problems.. hell back when i shot on tapes i had a camera with 140 on it and had tons of problems.
What you could do is take it to a camera store and get the heads replaced. I dont know much about it since we luckily dont deal with it anymore, but im sure it will end up costing you a few hundred for certain.

In my mind, pass on that deal and look elsewhere. You would rather spend the extra few hundred or 1000 then having to pay for repairs and all that stuff in the future. Less of a hassle.
