so after school today before football i was going to go to subway with a couple friends to get some food. i turned right and was going slow (10 mph) looked down at my ipod and BOOM. went strait into the car in front of me. so we pulled over. no damage on my car except for paint and hers had 2 bumps were the screws for my lisence plate are. i tried to convince her not to call the cops but she did and they wrote up a report. i got a $103 ticket for following to close. so idk whats gona happen. If i go to her to pay for all the damage will that still affect my insurance even if she doesnt call them??? anyone have help for me or things i should do. im paying about 1800 per year for insurance btw.

sparknote- got in accident, my fault. no major damage/ no injuries. how much will my insurance go up? anytihng else i should do?

If you pay for all of the damages out of pocket, and convince her not to contact your insurance company, than you wont have the accident on your insurance. But, your insurance will still go up, cause you got a ticket.

i believe if the damage is under $1000, which it sounds like it is definatly under that, u dont have to report it to ur insurance company. Im not totally sure about that fact...

yea it was deffiantly under 1000. im not even go do anything to my car. and to respond to snobunny i left a note on her door saying contact me. i just hope she hasnt called the insurance already because she seemed really anal

What a bitch, i hate people who want to always call the cops when an accident happens. Just exchange info etc and you're good.

hahaha thats great. I would only really call if I knew it wasn't my fault, and it was anything more than a minor accident.

If someone is injured, I'll call. If someone scrapes my car, and offers me the money to fix it then sweet. only thing is they could skip out on the money, and then you're fucked with no proof of the event.

My insurance went up about 500 dollars a year after my first speeding ticket. Don't report the accident to your insurance company and pay for the damage out of pocket and you'll save a lot more money.

is this deffiantly true? and yea there was minor damage on her car but she was this arab bitch that was completly unreasonable. it fucking sucked

yeah any moving violation ticket, like the "following too close" ticket the officer gave you will effect your insurance. The only tickets that dont affect your insurance are those that are not moving violations (ie: parking/seatbelt), or those that are successfully contested, or deferred.
