Gossip at work

anyone get tired of this shit? I cannot wait to quit my job. all anyone does there is gossip about other employees and bitch about shit, complaining about stuff that isnt even worth mentioning. everyone thinks I'm really quiet but I just have zero imput on the gossip sessions that go on. like if I don't like someone and someone brings them up, I'll say "yeah so and so is a bitch" but that's about it, and I rarely say anything I wouldn't say to someone's face. seriously I've heard the same conversations about the same gossip dozens of times, its so old.

oh and if you are one of the people that participates in that sort of behavior (cause the guys are pretty much as bad as the girls where I work) remember that smart people will hear your gossip and think "gee if they talk so much shit about so-and-so, I wonder what they say about me when I'm not around?"
 
get used to it man because it doesn't ever change. there are some 60 year old women that work at my firm and they gossip just as much as 15 year old girls...only difference is they are a little more discrete about it...
 
if you arent afraid to call someone a bitch to their face i don't understand why you don't call people out on their gossiping? if you're so tired of it do something about it. just like the people the bitch and whine about nothing. you're complaining about their gossiping and complaining which is kinda ridiculous.
 
well first its always a bad idea to get into the shit with people you work with. better to stay on good terms even if it means holding your tongue, because its no fun to have to be around someone for 6 hours when there is open hostility.

but perhaps I didn't explain fully. I wouldn't say that to their face unprovoked, but if I said it behind their back and they found out, I wouldn't really have a problem admitting what I said. and I have said stuff about it, I say things like "well she's always been really nice to me, sure she may not be the best at her job but I don't think its worth discussing." I don't want to lay into them because I don't want to fuck it up as a reference, its not a bad one to have. don't want to necessarily be remembered as a douche, even though it would be great to go out george costanza style.

the sad truth is that you guys are right, its not gonna stop at other jobs. but it prob won't be as bad. when I worked at a ski shop there was a little bit of it, but not nearly as much. we didn't have to resort to shit-talking to pass the time, there was gear and trips to discuss.

that sucks dude, i had a job like that once.

u know where doesnt have any gossip? landscaping or a plant nursery. SICK job, everyone is chill and gets stoned nearly every day at work in the greenhouse, and you get to drive around carts offroad and set stuff on fire. and you plant plants, water them and grow them to sell, which is really rewarding. It's pretty much the best job you can get in high school
 
word, everytime someone brings that stuff up i just say ya i guess, they havn't done anything to me so there okay in my book and its maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad awkward after that, it makes me laugh ahha
