i think all the pros will gradually drop there arms lower and lower, its like evolution, in a skier kind of way,the judges are using 'natural selection' by giving tanner hall the win all the time, and guys like phil larose and mick deshenaux are following and suceeding. personally i think its cool

A stiff body position= less abosrbing capacity for impacts on rails, jumps or anything.

Being low allow tou to extend a bit when you drop( like on a kiked rail) and you can always get lower to absorb the impact from a flat kink.

a stiff body position will make you get air on any kind of bumps, drop or quick tranny

Regardless of preference, gorrila 'steeze' makes you more prone to getting injured- it's just not a feasible stance for those of us who actually know how to ski. It's more for those who dick around hitting jumps all day and think that skiing all hunched over makes them look cool.

It may be working for him at the moment, but gorilla steeze will pass, it's just what everyone likes right now. Nothing will ever replace actual skiing in proper form. And I don't think that Tanner is getting all the respect frome everyone, from what I can see there are a fair amount of people who don't like Tanner, and it's becuase of the fact that he's using gorilla style. Oh, and you're right, I am a deranged pole smoker. Thanks for clarifying that.

If any of you acutaly tried skiing rails and jumps and pipe like tanner you would realise that it ACTUALLY WORKS. I dont go as far as dragging my hands, but keeping in a low crouched possition with hands forward is perfect for almost all aspects of PARK skiing. NOT for outta the park. Tanner keeps his hands realy low whereas most other pros that use the same body possition dont. It is most helpful with small spins (cork 3 and 5). you dont see tanner doing cork 1080 all gorilled out do you?

I suppose that is a good point, but what gets me is people skiing outside of the park (namely on big mountain terrain) using gorrila steeze- it's so damn ineffective outside of the park.

do you see any pro snowboarders with a pencil style? NO. Almost all pro snowboarders have teh same style when riding in the park, because it helps. It is much easier to be in a crouched position and to carve off a jump to spin super smoove stylie airs. it helps to be in the gorrila position (crouched and hands forward).

the stupid thing about all of this is that now skiers want to stand straight up so they dont have gorilla steeze. the best way to get air, as cj said, is to crouch down with your knees bent and hands forward. what makes tanner look like a gorilla is that he drags his hands on the ground, but to get a good jump you have to be hunched. being crouched over isnt gorilla steeze. dragging your hands is. because some asshole decided to observe the way that certain people ski on their way into jumps, though, everybody is now worried about having gorilla steeze.
