Gore Mountain, New York

Thoughts on this hill. I might head out to see a buddy mid season and I want to know what type of lift ticket I should buy and how is the park there? is it worth it?

after it snows the top isn't bad at all if you like glades and some of those trails are pretty steep. But if you only ski park lower is what you want.

the parks are terrible but the terrain at gore is awesome. you'd have to ski outside of the park, so i wouldnt bother coming if you dont know how to really ski (outside of into and out of a flat bar)

The mountain is one of my favorites. I could be slightly biased because of riding there for years but also had plenty of bad experiences so I feel it balances out.

It isn't a one dimensional mountain where you go up this lift or that lift and ski directly down. IF it's crowded as fuck stay up in the upper mountain and lap the straight brook chair.

I recommend going late enough that all the glades are open. Check the trail updates and see. Once they have a decent base they'll usually stay open for the most part. If you can hit it on a pow day it's sick. Out of bounds chatiemac glade is one of my favorite. Double barrel are nice chutes if the snow is right. Lies is a nice steep trail that's one of my favorite anywhere on a cool febuary morning right as the sun starts to soften the frozen surface around 930-1030

The park well, well I'll just leave it with what I said about the rest of the mountain.

GORE IS MY FAVORITE MOUNTAIN

(after snowbird//alta//pcmr)

RUMOR LIES TOPRIDGE STEILHANG

all nice steep trails

their glades are the longest and easiest accessible and easy to get lost

they added the whole sagamore side which is a high speed access to sidecountry

Owl Gang hill you mean? LOCS ONLY O.G.O.E. BITCH

nah but its okay, park is generally lacking, when there's snow its a dope mountain

Gore has a lot of variety outside of the park because the park isn't that decent. Dark Side and Double Barrel are the best glades on the mountain because they are challenging to most skiers, and Rumor and Lies are really good once they're open and are some of the steepest trails in the east coast. When there's a huge crowd (i.e. President's Week, Christmas/New Year's break, not sure about MLK weekend?), the line for the gondola can stretch to the Northwoods Lodge (where they sell lift tickets, rentals, lessons) and it's best to migrate to the top (maybe the triple chair to the right of the gondola) and dodge the gapers.

do the top to bottom until 11am

then lap the north ridge triple to avoid crowds (only services and )

the sagamore area serviced by high speed quad is also fresh and loaded with lift line cliffs once snow allows

DO NOT SKI THIS AFTER 3......... the hike out is terrible if quad shut downs early

gore is awesome if you know what youre doing. tons of places to randomly dip into the woods so if the snow is right its a blast. Double barrel and the dark side "glades" are both pretty sick lift lines. tons of fun to rip them for the crowd. All the runs are fairly short which isnt the worst thing ever, except its kind of inconvenient to move between the very top to the bottom.

The park truly blows like nothing youve ever seen. There is a pretty funny thread floating around somewhere literally tearing that place to pieces. I blame gore for slowing down my park progression for way too long. But the all mountain definitely makes up for it

The best of gore( I couldn't help myself)

It's too easy. I wish I had pictures of "Big" and "Bigger".

I'm def going to stop by this year and hit the glades. Maybe hit the park a coupe times for nostalgia.

Don't hit the shotgun rail btw, that thing will kill you. ME and danetron bent it back using just out body weight. If you turn sideways on it, you're gonna have a bad time.

The mountain is pretty sick actually. Some of the steepest resort terrain in the east, a bunch of sick glades. Decent layout with skiing the backside of the this, the one side of that etc.

Only thing that sucks is they seem to have a thing for cutting trails on flats or even up hill. I remember when cloud was the only way down from the top. Snowboarding on that was death. Tuck that headwall as hard as you can and pray your edge holds in the ice on that corner, then git low and stay there till you stop moving and hike a bunch if you don't make it.

Unless whiteface is doable for you. They've been seriously steeping up their park the last couple years. Not that it wasn't always miles ahead of gore, but they're really building some sick shit these days.

I think they're doing Belleayre on that pass now as well. I've never been there but 3 mountains is decent if they still have that under 23 pass.

Well said, Whiteface is killing it. Never understand why Gore's park lacks so severely in contrast, considering there sister mountains. It really wouldn't be hard, one legit big jump the size of Whiteface's middle one, one progression jump, get a few new 15ft rails and mabye a box or two and everyone would be happy. I don't really care that much nowadays anyways because when I'm back home I mostly ski Whiteface but it's just a subject I am passionate about.

What do they have set up right now? I was working a bunch getting shit ready this weekend. Might try to make it up next weekend.

Who's got the deetz? Any pics?

I went to whiteface and they had down rail,c box, and a small flat box. Didn't go to gore but I heard they had a down rail, flatbox, cannon/pole jam thing, and they bought new boxes from jobs for cribs and had a flat down box

I saw some pics of whiteface I don't think I have time to make it up there right now. Probably will be working too much to even get to gore but at least that's somewhat close to me.

I just saw some facebook pics or jore finally.

^ Jibs for cribs flat down.

It looks like flat box, down rail(be careful on that shotgun, seriously) and flat down box.

They they partner up with jibs for cribs? I saw a banner in one of the pictures. Or did they just buy them from there? Interesting with guru and now them. How are they? I've never actually ridden one.

nick zachara knows the jibs for cribs guy so they got like 3 rails he said, a dub kink, single kink, and a flat. from what i heard they ride fine. i just wish they had skirts

So it looks like they finally mellowed the down flat. Kind of bummed I never got to see the og version in person.

I did just hear something disturbing today. Some kids from toga were saying that the down flat rail was build from the a-frame rail? Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

I was actually looking forward to hitting this rail at some point

I'll get over there at some point, but with this weather I'm going to wait for more snow.

That is true, regarding the down-flat being mellowed out, but the down flat rail is definitely not the a-frame rail. Maybe the same type of metal and same width, but they are wrong. It's a pretty sick line in Lower Sleighride from a flat box to the option of a down-flat rail or a flat tube in my opinion. The lips to the down flat rail and down tube are kinda connected, yet some gapers use the empty space in between the rails as a jump.

Okay. I know it's the same tubing but was gonna be like DA FUK? if they chopped it. Seemed far too unreasonable to be true but I had to know.

One of my friends posted an edit from this weekend that's how I saw the down flat. Like I said, I'll make my return at some point this year. Figure I might as well wait for more snow in the trees though. Would make the trip a lot better if there was some deep pow out of bounds chatty and other spots.

Sounds like a plan. Or if we get dumped with snow next month and hit some glades/ cause a ruckus.

You still got that big ghettoblaster you had at mount snow? We should do laps down sunway bumpin wu tang
