alright so chances are im just being a dumbass but im really having issues downloading + editing my gopro vids. just got the camera and i have a windows vista and im trying to use windows movie maker (or live version) to edit them. if anybody could point out what step im missing or why im having these issues that would be legit...

i think you either have to convert them to a different format that works with the program or download sony vegas 10 pro

first of all, yes mp4 is not supported in WMM, so you need to convert them if you are dedicated to the program (it's a pretty shitty one)

however, sony vegas 10 pro isn't the only option. look at adobe premiere pro and shit, you might not even need something on that level. maybe cyberlink powerdirector will work for you, my friend uses pinnacle and likes it. try a few out.

movie maker is not a good program to use to edit videos, torrent sony vegas or you can look into some easier stuff like pinnacle studios but yea movie make doesnt work with certain files and your really limited to what you can do on that, my advice would be vegas or pinnacle, vegas is more complex but if u can get it get it.

Ya i kinda figured that WMM didnt work with MP4's so i tried converting them with realplayer but that still didnt work that well

I will look into those programs (isn't vegas pretty pricey?) thanks for the advice

Convert the files usind windows media encoder which should already be on your computer. The program works sometimes for me and other times is freezes up.

No, I use freeware, or use software at my school that I can't afford.

But if I ever did steal something, I would not talk about, or advocate it online.

where in my posts does it say that i have torrented anything?

plus, even if i did download say... final cut pro, then do you really think it's hurting apple that much? a corporation that is KNOWN for unreasonably high prices for their products, and a company that makes billions yearly?
