Gopro to the computer problems

So I just got a gopro hd helmet camera and the video quality is amazing on my tv when I just plug it in but then when i transfered the files off the camera to the computer it made them really glitchy and i could only play them with quicktime and i was wondering what i could do to make them run smoother.

You would need a better computer to make them run smoother.

Sorry, but that is pretty much the only option for that.

Some .mov files don't play very well in windows media player if you are using a PC. If this is a PC and you don't want to use quicktime for playback you need to transcode them. Just search on the internet for ".mov to .wmv transcode" (or replace .wmv with whatever you want it to be).

first of all gopros do not record .mov files,

and basically its your computer

old computers cannot handle hd video

Ok, your right. They do H264 .MP4

Sure a new computer would help but you can transcode the .mp4s to something your computer can handle as well. Cheeper than getting a new computer.

its weird when i watch my go pro footage off my macbook white, from like 2009, the quality is way worse then when i transfer the files to my moms mac book pro. Not to say the quality is in any way bad, but for some reason, its just ten times better on hers.

better computer bro!..I had the same issue bought myself a MBP no more problems!

its worth the investment if your serious about video editing

its all the computer. the computer isnt fast enough to keep up with such a good video so it pauses the video and makes it shit fucked. happened to me on my computer with vista and they tired it on my brothers mac with os x and it was fine.. just need a better computer with better software

Yup its the computer. What OS are you running?

Upgraded my dell to windows 7 64 bit version from Windows Vista. Fixed all the playing issues.

It's actually probably not the computer unless his is reeeeeally old. Quicktime player is pretty slow and awful on a Windows PC, especially with HD.

Download VLC player for free and I would be willing to bet your videos will play fine.
