GoPro Hero HD Question

does it have a laser sight to determine where the lens of the camera is pointing (like other POV cams)??also, does the headlamp style mount work well under a stocking cap for riding without a helmet but still shooting footage?

No, it has no laser sight. It has a pretty wide range lens though. If you position it right the first time you won't have much trouble. As for the headlamp mount? I wouldn't trust it. The gopro mounts onto it in a really awkard place and due to the weight of it, sometimes the camera faces too far downward. Hope this helped.

I know nothing about Contours. I can only speak on behalf of the gopro, which I'm quite content with. Its fun just to have and play around with. I'm sure the countour is like this. Neither of them are meant for real hardcore editing, but I'm sure either would be fun to have.

having used both get the gopro its easier in many ways such as changing camera modes, editing mainly, and its far more waterproof, etc. as far as the mounting, i wouldn't recommend the head lamp it is awkward and slips off easily, especially in crashes. you could use it but i personally just wouldn't. its too much trouble for not even stable video. get a handle bar/seat post mount and put it on your pole as close to the grip as possible and it'll work great, but obviously its not on your head. if you really don't want to wear a helmet for proper mounting get the chest mount harness. again obviously not the same as if it were on your head but unique, and stable footage. or the simplest solution would be wear a helmet for the best mounting, protecting you brain comes second, right?

who cares about the brain anyway?? :)i probably will just do the helmet thing but im suprised the 3M sticky shit will actually hold well enough on the helmet to keep the thing from falling off.

With the GoPro, I like to use the LCD Bacpac to set up the angle, then tighten it into place and take off the BacPac because it eats up the battery pretty quickly. But, at least then I know I am getting the angle I want.

That's probably the best option since it doesn't have the laser sight.

3M adhesive works great... i've hit my gopro off so many things while its on my head and the 3m sticky pad never gave way
