Hey guys,

Decided to put together this tutorial for using Final Cut with GoPro or DSLR footage. Talks about transcoding, frame-rate changes, sequence settings, and exporting. Share it around, check out whatever part you need to learn about! It's long!

Now turn on the TV and watch the Dew Tour Pipe finals! Slater! Look for vids coming from X Games everyday next week!

How? My raw p2 footage looks the same as the converted DVCPROHD files or Prores 422 files. Same with HDDSLRs, the raw footage looks the same as the prores 422.

How is it inefficient? You have your raw files (either on your computer or from in camera, the former is much smarter) and you transcode them and they go directly to FCP. Seems pretty efficient.

I can't comment on p2 footage, but somebody on Cinema5D ran some tests and basically proved that FCP Log and Transfer degrades HDSLR image quality. MPEGstreamclip and 5DtoRGB rendered sharper images with more pleasing gamma (the latter according to popular opinion of course).

It's inefficient because it is slow. I can process the same number of files with greater quality in less time using MPEGstreamclip than I can using Log and Transfer...

Two each his own i guess, probably would never be able to tell unless you're the editor of the footage.

Never heard of 5DtoRGB until you wrote this so I googled it. Looks pretty good. How is it compared to MPEGstreamclip?

A lot of people really like it. I prefer MPEGstreamclip because it has the most pleasing gamma (in my opinion).

Somebody on Cinema5D made a thread comparing identical 5dmkii frame grabs through FCP, MPEGstreamclip, and 5DtoRGB. The differences are pretty significant. However, both MPEGstreamclip and 5DtoRGB were noticeably sharper than FCP; i think 5DtoRGB was the sharpest, but I find color/tones more important, so I opted for the one with the more pleasing gamma.

no... just final cut pro and compressor if that helps... i have been slowing down clips in i movie but they dont look good..... at all

wait i have this same problem. anyone know where i can find a torrent/serials for all of FCS except FCP? even my compressor doesnt work

this. i am wondering the same thing, i dont have enough money for it but i want to find a good torent thtat includes everything

i have been getting pm's for serials so here are two i found... i do not know if they work but im sure they doE-333-FTV-394-RPJ-425-GXX-506-SGF-TAE-X37B
E-323-JSH-026-XQT-305-GEH-415-PFL-MEB-X37B

could you please make one on the super slow moi have a video contest at my resort that ends by the end of the month

hahaha, oh okay, for the sake of your video contest...
I don't mean to be a jerk but jeeeeezus, do some frickin research. Kids these days want everything handed on a silver platter.
