GoPro Calibration

Hey NS,
I can never seem to get the perfect GoPro angle for POV filming, so I came up with two ideas to fix this problem and was wondering which one you guys think is better.
A. Attach a laser pointer to the side of the GoPro and align the dot with the bottom right corner of the footage (one time setup).
B. Buy a cheap sd card media player and use it to test the angle and preview footage while out on the slopes.
Right now I am leaning towards option A because it allows you to calibrate it without having to take the card out. What do you guys think? Will it be hard to attach a laser pointer to my GoPro case?
Thanks,Reed

Option 3: Take a protractor and measure the angle for some test shots. Change the camera angle whilst on the mount and just write down the angle you set it at, so you can set it up that way the next time you use it. Total cost less than one dollar.

I'd say try the laser pointer thing first and see how that goes. It won't be too hard to attach I don't think just try and find a strong adhesive of some sort. It would be mad annoying to always be taking out a media player on the hill and having to take the camera out of the shell every time.

That's one of the benefits of the Contour, is the built in laser pointers to see where you're shooting.

its not that hard to get some decent shots from a go pro. use a pole fyi ive found my best results come from useing a pole of somesort

if you have a day off, experiment with it, put on your helmet and go walk/jump around in your garden, then evaluate the footage, if its aimed too high, or too low, adjust it and try again until it's good, then you either screw it down tightly so it doesn't move anymore, or you feel and remember how it's set, i can perfectly adjust/aim mine by feeling ....
worked perfectly for me, you'll get the hang of it soon enough !

buy my little monitor and use the gopros live output to check the angle!

use it enough to just know, i find that a completely upright angle while on the head is the best one, pointed down is usually too pointed down

This is what I used to do, until I got the pole mount, so now every time I put it back on my helmet, I have to reposition it.
