I love them. I bought their 40 dollar cheap composite ones and they usually hold up a whole season for me, thats skiing 100 days at alta and generally beating the shit out of them too....Aluminum poles tend to last me a week or so and are alot more heavy. I love the composite ones, once they start to break though you will see tiny little cracks in the shaft. Just send them back to goode and you get new ones.
composites are definately the way to go. i snapped my aluminum ones and just took a pair of composite ones from the ski rental and they are definately better, and as far as they go, goode makes some of the best.
I broke a pair of composite poles and went and got another pair of a different composite pole, the guy at the store said they were indestructible, I fell on them doing a three and snapped them in half. Definitely go with aluminum, cheaper.
I had my carbon poles for 3 hours before I snapped them, but maybe that was just a bad experience given what everyone else has said. They're really strong in some ways, but if you fall on them just right they're toast. So from now on it's just cheap aluminum for me!
ehhhh dunno about scotts being the most durable..as far as the alum poles go that may be true with thie rovalized shaft thing they use on their higher end stuff.
The goodes/any composite pole have very good durabilty and its hard to find something that is lighter than them that will holdup as good. The best alternative is just get the cheapest aluminum poles you can and keep buying them as you snap them. Sometime you get lucky and find a good pair that you can bend 100 times before they snap (the kerma corrective bend ones with the releasable pole strap are a good example).
composite poles are for people who only get ten days a season if you planning on skiing hard this season get alum. poles. who gives a damn about weight when your overwieght, pregnant and have to take a huge fucking shit.
ive had the same goode composite poles for 6 years. you can hardly read the label cause they are so scratched, but they haven't failed me in any other way
