Goodbye to one of the GREATEST EVER

I am broken writing this, but thought the news should come from a decent source without rumors flying around. We have lost one of the sport's most beloved, gifted and entertaining athletes. Shane McConkey died today in a ski BASE accident in Italy.
This news is completely fucked. He was my best friend and will inspire me for years and years to come...

+ vibes man. i lost my 2 closest friends last year at the same time. and i lost another close friend a week ago.

It is true, very sad. He has done so much for the sport its unreal. His chute didnt open during a ski base jump in italy~

an innovator, a comedian, a true entertainer, and most importantly, a father....
Please make this a sticky.
RIP to the greatest.

thats devastating he was truly a legend in our sport

rest in peace shane

all the best you his family and at least he died doing what he loved

Its so hard to imagine shane gone. He did so much pushing the sport, pushing everyone. Absolutely going balls to the wall constantly. his footage is amazing and his desire to do what he loves in unparalleled. RIP my friend. you WILL be forgotten

most deaths i read about i dont think to much of unless i knew them but this makes me very sad i loved watching shane ski and movies and he was always a funny guy R.I.P

Please say you're joking or got your information from an unreliable source.

I've been looking up to shane for years. If this is true, I...I just don't know what to say.

people at the very tip top pinnacle of our sport aren't supposed to die like this.

RIP. you will be so sadly missed

Holy shit that's enormous. Shane was a pioneer for this sport, I can't believe it ..

What a massive loss

RIP

Ive been doing reasearch, all his film company website, google searches, only word of this is this forum, where is the info coming from, his wikipedia says nothing either

Wow this sucks I'm still hoping its not true. Shane was sick, I love watching him ride (even made a call sayin he'd base off the peak to peak which he did!), all his movie parts are awsome and he always looks like hes having an awsome time year after year, despite many injuries through out his career! His part in claim was the most entertaining in the whole movie too me (spesh his mach 10 frontflips off the cat track, like the dudes 40!). So if its true RIP dude and at least he had the luxury of dying while doing something he loved!

That being said he is a known prankster and it is close to april 1st so I'm really hoping he's sitting behind a comp screen somewhere laughing his ass off and this is all going in his MSP part next year.
