This thing is incredible. Could revolutionise the way people make edits.

90% of the SoloShot purchases will be made over the next 3 months (sup Christmas). After that, goodbye fad.

I mean... thats a cool idea and it sparks some ideas for B-cam angles when your solo shooting but that little machine will never be able to make creative decisions or adjust to conditions/ problems on the fly like an actual human filmer could so no, it wont replace filmmakers.

but it doesn't need to adjust to situations. You still can use whatever camera you normally would, and you are still setting all of the settings you want. If weather changes you just get out of the water/snow/whatever and change settings. I actually think this thing is pretty sick. It can be annoying taking turns filming on bc booters and the like and it would be pretty cool to just set this thing down and not have to worry about filming the rest of the day. I like it, cool engineering

its no fad. My homie is one of the guys that started soloshot, they have a new version coming out next year with features that really make it stand out. wouldnt chock this one up to be a fad.

Dammit, another one of my awesome ideas out the window. Really cool concept, obviously there are limits to it but that doesn't mean it's a waste.

I take it you've never put a gopro on an RC heli or anywhere not touching your body. The iphone app is so fucking money for that shit.

Im not saying it is not a sick idea, but if your on a bc booter session as you bring up and you set this thing up, hike way the hell up an inrun, across a valley, up a ridge, or wherever your jump is, do you really want to have to hike all the way back and change the settings every time the sun pops out or it gets cloudier? Just saying it could never replace actually having a filmer who is making creative decisions and focusing on getting the best shots imaginable which is why I say it would make a sweet B-angle option for solo filmers.

Doesn't seem gimmicky to me at all if it actually works. It comes with a "built in security feature" not exactly sure what that means but in the picture it showed it all locked up, and the tripod fits almost all cameras. $479 is pricy as fuck though. I'd actually consider buying one for 100-200

have you ever edited a soccer mom's video footage for their daughter's "highlight reel to send to colleges cuz shez like da besttzz!!1!"? they can sit there for ya, but they should never operate a camera

Im surprised Eheath hasnt touched on this yet...

Good concept for those who have the money to drop on it and no friends who want to or are any good at filming. I didnt do a ton of reading up on it, but static angles, having to move and reposition the camera and not being able to get creative with shot variation (while in motion) wont replace quality filmers by any means.

side note...I really want a RC heli with camera still (someone brought that up in here)

I could see this catching for filmers who want multiple angles when they don't a second filmer. Definitely pretty handy. It does take spme of the skill out though

brb, gotta hike up a hill in ski boots to go grab my camera. Oh, i know, i can go take the chair back up and leave ample time for someone to walk away with my camera.
