BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (AP) -- A state judge Tuesday threw out a Louisiana constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, less than three weeks after it was overwhelmingly approved by the voters.

headline in cnn. the amendment that was trying to be passed was unconstitutional and if it was passed, would be connecting the church and state, which is a no-no.

just wondering whether gay marriage was more of an equal rights issue or church and state? I always thought it was an equal rights issue because gays can get married, but they dont get a marriage license or any tax breaks.

hmmmm, so much for a goverment for the people by the people. so, in a democratic republic, isnt the majority suppossed to speak with more authority than the minority? THAT RULING is unconstitutional. honestly, what in the constitution gives them the right to overturn the will of the people?

catholics vote against it, but thats because the church tells them bad stuff will happen if they allow gay marriages. its just important we keep religion out of the government.
