Good virus/firewall and spyware prgrams.

ok so im getting a new computer, and the last 2 weve had have completely gone to waste because nobody in my family puts any effort into protecting it from viruses. since i bought it, i want to take care of it. im getting norton definitely, but i was wondering if anyone knows of really good spyware/adwqare removal programs. i will pay for a good one if it means my computer will be safer. ive heard webroot/spyroot works really well and its like 30 bucks a year. any other you guys suggest??

umm i think its called AVG and its free and good

a good free firewall is zone alarm. You can get it at www.zonelabs.com Only thing is it uses up a ton of RAM but most firewalls do anyway. i have a gig of ram so it's not really a big deal. And like the other dude said spybot and adaware are great.
