alright guys so i'm getting a 7d at the end of the summer and from what i've heard the lens kit is garbage so i was wondering what would be a good lens for everything basically because i wont have enough money for awhile so.....

WHAT LENS

I think he means don't spend your whole budget on the body, you need to spend quite a bit more on accessories before you begin shooting (sd cards, a viewfinder, lenses, a tripod, a handheld rig, a microphone etc.). With that said, if the features unique to the 7d are necessary/justify the price and you can afford it, then go for it

All of them have the same sensors, so you wont get better quality. T2i has a stable version of magic lantern, T3i has the articulating screen, and 60d is an all around step up from the t3i (ergonomically, and has manual gain control built in).

The major thing the 7d has going for it is that its got a rugged body and the HDMI out. If you really want the rugged weatherproof body, go 7d. If not, save yourself a few bucks and get one of the cheaper bodies and put more money into glass. Here's a great article to read: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?249562-Difference-between-APS-C-Camera-models-(7D-vs-T2i-vs-60D-vs-T3i)

I'd go try them out before you decide, make sure its the one you want. I was really surprised at how small the T2/3i line was.

FYI its really hard to find a 7D right now because of the earthquake in Japan. Also the 7D takes a CF card instead of an SD card (something little but they are pricier.)

60d also has the HDMI out. They're essentially the same camera except the 60d has a swivel screen and the 7d has the magnesium body. They also have a different control layout. My 60d comes in tonight! I'm so excited!

but the 60d puts out SD once you press record. Little difference, but an important one if you are going to use an external monitor

what are you going to be doing with the camera ?

video or photography ?

the 7d has a much better autofocus system and can shoot 8 frames/sec

it also has micro adjustments to calibrate the focus on lenses.

the 7d has weather sealing and dual digic 4 processors ( 60d only has one )

60d has the screen and the audio control.

what is your budget ?

Imo, you either get the T2i or 7D. If you got the cash for a 60d, just save up a little more for the 7D. Not that big of a difference right?

eh idk, i have the canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS and don't get me wrong, i love it, but i think the tamron is a much, much better value and i would have had a ton left over for other things
