Good US firearm sales site

I am looking to get my restricted firearms license which lets me buy handguns (Ontario), since very little is available in Ontario to buy (hence the "restricted") I was wondering if anyone knew of any decent American sites that sell handguns, thanks.
 
There are a few major online gun sale sites - namely Gunbroker and AuctionArms. They are basically eBay for guns. Buying handguns is always much more difficult than long guns (rifles, shotguns, etc). I know that buying out of the country will be even harder for you. I would suggest that once you have narrowed down the handgun you wish to purchase you go to the nearest dealer to you and place an order. It might cost slightly more, but you will have no problem with warranty work or any other problems. Also, when buying a used gun, if you don't know exactly what you are looking for, arrange to have it inspected by a certified gunsmith. This should be simple, as any gun you purchase will have to be shipped to someone with a FFL. I really am not sure about the gun laws in Canada, but I do know that you will have to jump through a lot of hoops to purchase a handgun from the US.
 
Thanks, yes in Canada I have to have any gun from outside Canada shipped to a certified gunsmith who will then in turn register it and sell it to me, lots of legal mumbojumbo due to our gun laws.
 
Any ideas for non-auction type sites? A lot of sites i've found look pretty localized and many of the auction sites have sellers that don't ship internationally.
 
you annoy me, plus I wanna turn your room into a hot tub room so this seems like the best way to do it.

I actually am obsessed with guns and this is the next step for me :P It's simply target practice as usual, there's a range in Peterborough.
 
that sucks ass. we can just go to any store and buy them around here...but it is US, wow the US has something one up on Canada!!

would you happen to know anything about restrictions taking guns into Canada? like for a hunting trip say. my dad and cousin and i were going to go to Canada on a hunting/fishing trip sometime maybe. just curious. if not it's fine.
 
You will definatly have to notify the border that you have firearms, more than likely will have to show proof of ownership and your possession/acquisition license (not sure what you guys call it)
 
you don't have to be 21 in canada to get a handgun?

In the US, I think you can buy rifles and shotguns at 18, but have to be 21 for a handgun. I THINK. I've never bought a gun, so I'm not sure
 
to clarify, I "want" (not need) a handgun for pure enjoyment, I get a kick out of firing guns of any sort.

any other suggestions for sites? that impactguns.com was a good one. thanks

In case he needs to shoot someone? Target shooting with a handgun is a really fun activity too though.

You should just move to Utah, minimal hassles here. I'm selling a handgun to a friend while going skiing in a few days, hard to beat that.
 
whats the canadian equivalent of an FFL (federal firearms license)?

make sure you get your local canadian gunshop on board with your plan. they'll probably charge you 20-50 bucks as a processing fee simply for having them be the recipient of the shipment.

what are you looking for? simply a target practice range hose?

brownells.com has all kinds of goodies

cabelas.com is more hunting-focused but has bulk handgun ammo in OD green tins

 
target shooting was one of the best wastes of money ive ever experienced. started last summer now i go like once a month. place right over the border in NY, u dont need a license u just go there, register with them and they give u ANY gun in the store for 10 bucks, and then ammo prices vary (got to fire an uzi JEA)

if u havent tried it, give it a whirl, great way to blow off steam and u leave knowing that if anyone were to attack u in ur home u could definately shoot them (i have a couple guns at home) hahaha.

I have a modded out AR15 from them, I have some relatives that are high up in the Business. Throw an ACOG scope or Eotech sight and you have a sweeeet assault riffle that really fun for target shooting.

As far as handguns, My father is a Marshal and just got a new 40 cal Glock. If your going to get a handgun by all means, Glock is top of the line. Browning also makes some real nice and legit stuff if you dont care about price.
 
i assume you've got random shit hanging off of picatinny rails every two inches? and can you get me a discount on an AR then? thanks. also trijicon acog's are the same price as a stock a2/a3 from bushmaster. but you never have to worry about batteries.

and yes those austrians know how to make good reliable poly automatics for $500. but top of the line? i'd say no.....and argue that to be a 1911 from WilsonCombat or Kimber.
 
Naw man,

Ill post a picture of it soon. Im a lefty so its actually built custom to me by my uncle who works there. He had to order all these parts to convert it to lefty, so its sweet because you can't actually purchase a left handed gun from Bushmaster.

It has an EOTech Model 552 HDS Sight, tactical 6 position tele-stock, and a Y Comp Muzzle Brake. Very Clean looking gun, all matte Black.
 
AR-15s aren't full auto, but I'm guessing they don't let you have them in Canadia anyway because they look scary.

What kind of handgun are you looking to get?
 
lol scary guns are allowed but chances are you'd have problems with game wardens if they ever saw you hunting with something like that :P.

So far i've narrowed it down to a 45, i've found some cheap ones by High Impact, Glock is apparently one of the best but I really don't want to spend that kind of money on a target gun.

And I have also been looking at the 1911 series, they were actually one of the first that struck me as neat and reliable looking guns, fairly expensive though.

I don't hunt with that Gun BTW, I have a Browning A-Bolt 30-06 for that kinda thing.

Althought bushmaster is making a 30-06, 308, and a 50 Cal. within the year.

I held a 50 Cal made for the owner of the Windham, ME Bushmaster plant and almost lost my load, makes you feel like a Spec. Op. Sniper
 
I If you are looking for a handgun and not looking to spend a ton of money, check out the Springfield XD45.

Not too much money, some nice added on saftey features, same grip angle as a 1911 (much more vertical than the glock, which I fucking hate due to the angle of the handle, just so unnatural to shoot for me), and you can get it chambered for I think 13 rounds of .45 ACP, which is a great bullet for protection. 13 rounds of 45 will fuck someone up.

I have shot the following:

Beretta M9 - decent overall

H&K UPS - again, another fun gun

Colt 1911 - Awesome gun, but only a 7 round clip

Springfield XD45 - My favorite. If I were to get a handgun (cost considered) this would be that one

Springfield XD - 9mm model, nice as well, but .45 ACP is much sweeter than the 9mm

Glock 19 & Glock 23 - hate them. The handle angle just kills them for me. But some people love them, so it is a personal thing.

Sig P228 - nice but small. Would have loved to try the Sig 226 but didn't have one there to try.

Kimber 0.45 - Basically an updated 1911. Used by Tacoma PD.

I think that if I got a chance to shoot the P226 I would like it a lot, but they are expensive. You could always spring for a H&K Mark 23, what a lot of the navy seals use/used. It is like $2000 though.

Of the ones I shot, I would probably buy:

1) Springfield XD45

2) H&K UPS

3) Kimber of Colt 1911/0.45 variant

I suspect the Sig P226 would be in the top 3 if or when I get to shoot it.

awesome, thanks for the insight, the 1911 series seems to be popular and so does Glock. One thing I was told about Glock is that they only have one safety which is improperly pulling the trigger at an odd angle, other than that (which apparently is very annoying) it has no drop or thumb safety. That seems pretty brutal to me though, everytime you load your weapon your hot, anyone have experience with this?
 
O. I forgot about the internal hammer in the glock too. I hate that design to be honest.

One feature that is great about the Beretta is that when you put the saftey on, it removes the firing pin from the position so that no matter what happens, the bullet cannot be fired, which I think is a great design.

The saftey features is where the XD really shines and is why I love it (well...that and the 14 round 0.45 capacity)

The XD has a normal thumb safety that you can flip on or off, an indicator on the top of the slide that lets you know if there is a round chambered (great if it is dark), a striker indicator that tells you if the pistol is in the cocked position, and then has a trigger AND grip saftey, meaning that the gun WILL NOT FIRE unless both the trigger safety is correctly depressed and the gun is held firmly in the hands.
 
XD looks solid, some at a fairly reasonable price, I don't think I can drop much further than mid to high 400's and still buy a decent gun. But holy batman are the 1911's expensive, look incredibly pimp but i'd have to sell my brother for one of those, probably still wouldn't fetch enough.
