Good training for skiing Switch

If you rollerblade down a medium sloped hill backwards on rollerblades it feels just the same as skiing switch and helps you get a good feel for skiing switch...you guys should try it...it really helped me plus it helps pass the time till ski season

honestly it doesnt help much. ive been fruit bootin for like 5 years, and i still suck ass at skiing switch. but im good at fruit bootin...

it helps. i feel the same motion how i scissor my legs while skiing and rollerblading and leaning in to carve. it really helps with getting comfortable by looking over both shoulders.

on a similar note, a really great way to learn switch-ups is to do them on a rolling skateboard. dont know what it's called in skateboarding.

word it does help, but now hit jumps on skates, it helps alot with swich take offs and i think booting really helps with landing on skis.

i kinda know what he's talking about, you can like stagger your feet the same as on skis which i find to be the key to carvin switch. it also helped me a lot to pretty much give up on looking down the hill and just glance down occaisionaly to see whats up (like at the bottom of every turn) cuz otherwise you kinda torque your body to much to hold an edge right.

skiing switch is like trying to write something in a reflection of the paper, pen and your hand. Everything is backwards and makes no sense and it comes out all sloppy unless you focus and retrain yourself to do it. The biggest problem I find from experience and from watching people learning to ski switch is that they want to put their weight on there inside/uphill ski because that would be the ski to put weight on if you were going forward. (Left turn, weight goes on right ski when going forward. Left turn, weight goes on left ski when going switch) so things get confusing. Just keep your weight on your outside/downhill ski all the time.

sex change = kickflip body varial (switchup)

body varial = ollie with switchup

body varial on skateboard when its rolling = body varial on skateboard when its rolling

WARNING: Rant here for a paragraph, but after is a good opinion piece for everyone to talk about.

first of all, fruitbooting switch is amazingly helpful, all who oppose shall be smited.

Second, fruitbooting is uber gay for the most part, why, because MOST fruitbooters do GAY tricks... often hard but not visually impressive even to people that know how hard it is... duh, try something crazier instead of 50 walkover type variations while grinding 12 foot box... tools.

WHAT'S EVERONE'S OPINION FOR THIS BOTTOM PART ???

Second, part B, fruitbooting is wicked sick if you transfer things like parking lot gaps and do stylie variations of 5's. Basically, pretend they're skis and shit gets cooler and stylier by the minute lol. Oh ya, and refrain from anytype of gorilla steeze while skating up to and away from jumps or rails, it just looks retarded and awkward,.. however, in the air, be as gorilla as humanly possible (air time penis/pencil style KILLED the sport entirely, makes it look fag x10).. stomp your air and stand up, ride away relaxed not all hunched over.

Think about it this way, riding in gorilla steez while fruitbooting looks awkward because you look like you should be comfortably balanced standing on two feet, but you're in this totally unnatural looking position... it looks less dumb on a skateboard because it's not a classic stand on your feet activity, therefor on a skateboard it looks more natural to be in a more comprimised/balanced position... i know fruitbooting isnt stand on your feet only, but it does look like it, you face forward and your feet are not attached to eachother. Theoretically, it looks like you should be as comfortable fruitbooting as on your plain two feet. Similarly, gorilla steez on skis looks ok because when you ski you don't have to pump arms and skate with legs... which means they're not flailing all over the place when you ride. Imagine a cross country skier skiing in gorilla steez, how retarded would that look? ... about as dumb as fruitbooting.

For the record, I'm a fruitbooter and i love it, im lazy tho, basically if it takes more than 3 or 4 pushes what the hell am i doin it for. Ride vert, no pushes required, hit a rail, either a good drop in area or a couple pushes for speed and thats it. Skatin in a park with good flow should only require a couple pushes here and there (or arguably none at all)... with that you dont have to flail your arms around and bend over like a noob,... stand up damn-it, be relaxed (you're not relaxed bent over, dont tell me that, you're over compensating for your lack of balance/comfort, practice more). ***Personally id like to see freestyle fruitbooting make a similar come back as our cherished sport of two-planking has.***

just dont be scared. just keep ur knees bent, and stay relaxed. try gettin' out on your local hill early and rippin the first lines of the day switch.

i like to use a staggered switch stance whilst i cruise on my longboard. it doesn't help completely because it is hella hard to switch which foot you are leading with on one, but the physics are fairly similar. and before anyone asks, no you cannot kick while riding switch on a longboard, you have to switch up your stance after you get some good momentum going.

^ha, i do the same thing.

get a big ass long board made for bombing hills and stand backwards, feet staggered. it feels a lot like riding backwards on skis. plus it looks cool

fruitbooting is kinda taboo in vancouver, but i could bring it back if i say i ski, oh wait skiing is kinda taboo where i live too. shit.
