Good Summer Jobs

It's about time to start looking for something to do in the summer so i was wondering if anyone knows of any good summer jobs...basically i don't like dealing with people so any job where i can avoid bitchy customers would be nice. the last 2 summers i've worked at an amusement park and it's been ok but people just drive me nuts with there bitching and shit. the second thing is that i'm more on the lazy side when it comes to working so i don't really want a really physical job such as landscaping or painting. my friend told me about some travel company that hires college students for the summer, pays for their travel expenses so that they can write reviews on hotels and spas and crap like that. my friend who told me this is the kind of kid who says stuff thats not always true so there is a VERY good chance that there is no such thing as that. but if there is, anyone know of something like that? cause that would be a sick job for the summer

if that job does exist, tell em you heard a bunch of stuff about the hotel at whistler and that you should go check it out. free admission to coc!. but seriously, i worked as a camp counselor over the summer, but i almost got fired like 10 time for yellin at kids, so im not goin back.

yeah seriously

dont be lazy, you need to put effort into something to make money. I landscaped all summer and loved it, gets you in shape, gets you outside 9 hours a day, and pays real well. You can't start at the top buddy, gotta work your way up. Try washing dishes or something shitty like that, and then you will appreciate good jobs much more when you get them.

work at a marina pumping gas or washing boats. you dont have to talk to bitchy people that much

im pretty sure that working in a plastics plant for 40 hrs a week is worse than any job in a amusement park

park maintenance worker, you work your ass off but the pay is great and it gives you a great reference for the future..

plus you get to work outside, and the hours are usually good..

^hahahahaha

definitely landscaping or construction though, it really isn't all that bad, and its like working out everyday

I was actually going to suggest working at an amusement park.

What park did you work at?

The only thing I can think of that doesn't deal with people, physical labor, or a college degree is like a chef at a restaurant.

nothing. you dont like people, and dont want to work hard? your gonna be searching for a long time buddy.

personally i think jobs are 10x more fun when you get to deal with customers. i worked at bromely for a couple years in the summer and enjoyed talking to all the people, plus you get to laugh your ass off at peoples pathetic attemps to get off chairlifs without skis on

I did groundskeeping at a golfcourse over the summer. I just raked and mowed and shit with my ipod on all day. and every couple hours or so I'd take a break in the woods

working as a teller at a bank is a pretty good job. good pay and looks great on a resume because of all the responsibility. plus you work inside in AC and deal with people minimally

yo just apply at some places and see what happens, if you dont like it then quit, i worked for staples and nascar, was hard labor cuz i was always putting boxes away and shit but ur shifts go fast and the money will add up

you make the best money with manual labor (at least thats what i think) i've workd at the same golf course since i was 13...now that im 18 i finally get to be lawn mower! woot its like 9.50 an hour.

Working on a cart staff at a golf course is easily the best summer job i have ever had, i did it for about 6 years when i was younger, and you get free golf which is the shit.

deal with people minimally? Tellers deal with people constantly, atleast where I work we do. But ya, I love it and its easy

working at a park? how the hell could that be a bad job? I work on fucking fishing boats in the summer, I wish I could have it as easy as you

man, that is tough on you, but I hear the pay is really good, I guess that depends on the kind of fish though, I know workin on a lobster boat is pretty good pay but you have to be out on the boat at 4 in the morning then you come home in the middle of the day exhausted.

You could work in a kitchen, like a sous chef or something, that is pretty easy and customer dealing is nil, but pay isn't huge. But usually you can get free food.

Whats wrong with landscaping? You get to be out in the sun all day and it isnt that difficult, I would say go with landscaping because that is where your going to get the most cash OR bus tables, my friend did this last summer and made mad cash. He also got a certian amount of the waitresses tips and Im not sure if all bussers get tips.

yea, I worked for the parks department for the past couple years. maintenance is best, because you don't have to deal with anyone. and because there is no profit motive, everybody kinda slacks off, and almost nobody cares. its a prime job for sure.

im looking at doing watershed soil sampling this summer. you drive around from place to place and take soil samples for some 10-week study, and you get paid gas mileage and $10.00 an hour.

mow lawns! act like a little kid and go pass out fliers. i make 35 bucks/hour and work like 1 or 2 days a week.

you're your own boss

35$/hour

you can do it high

you can do it drunk. not to drunk

you can do it hungover. (wouldn't suggest it though)

and if you leave you can have someone else do it.

Like twice i hired these 3 (not white) brothers and had them mow 2 lawns for me and gave them like 10$. they were stoked.

If you live in an oilfield community like me, you can battery operate. starting wage is 17 an hour( would be 26 but you are subcontracted) and all you do for 10+ hours a day is drive around checking gauges and taking readings. it is amazing especially in the mud up here.

grocery store.. and I'm in university. I've worked there for way to long, I'm pretty much still there for the pure sake of it. But mainly because I have mad seniority and no responsibility, I love it.

i work at a country club golf course and all i do is dick around and smoke with my co-workers and rake in the tips

working at a lodge in a national park and just hiking/ backpacking all summer is very rewarding. working at a resort of some sort and just golfing all summer (what i did last summer and will do again this summer) is pretty much the tits. just go to coolworks.com and you'll find all sorts of sweet shit.

where do you live? for me the going rate for lawns is 20$ tops.

but yeah if you can find enough business then mowing is a great way to make money..

my friend is so cheap he charges no less the $30 cause he makes the argument to the people that they would have to pay twice as much to get a lawn service

if your older than 18 move to montana and be a blm fire fighter for the summer, im pretty sure they give you housing

Work at Menards, Home Depot, or Lowes(sp?). They pay pretty well, plus you get all the house supplies discounted so you can build jibs and stuff cheap. I'm getting a job at our local Menards this summer. Hopefully I can work with stocking the shelves, or out in the lumberyard.

If you live by a high end golf course or country club...CADDY ive done that for 3 years since i was 12 and started out making 20$ a round now i make anywhere from 35-40$ and even more on tournement weekends. which is like 9-11$ an hour. Plus you get a workout when your hauling a big asses bag for a few miles and you get to listen to the old rich men talk to you about how they made their monies....Best part you dont have to pay income taxes when youre young

I just applied to work at a country club by me as a food runner or a bus boy, seems like easy work so i hope i get that job. My brother worked landscaping and didnt get payed shit last year, u should go to a golf course my friend got payed a lot for that
