I bought those two years ago and I really like them. They are a wee bit pricier than what you were looking for but the sound that comes out of them are very nice sounding.
If you want something good, you're going to be spending a lot more than 300$. Try and boost your budget to get some quality stuff. I swear by NAD (receivers), B&W and JBL (speakers).
These are great for $149, and if you had a little more cash to spend on the Klipsch HD home theater system, you will thank yourself. But at $399 it is a little costly.
I like Klipsch over Logitech because Logitech...well they make everything, mice, keyboards, you name-its. Klipsch is a speaker company. They make...speakers and nothing more. With that being said. I notice Logitech systems are not as bassy as Klipsch, and the midrange speakers are not up to snuff with the Klipsch mid range speakers. But it is all a matter of taste and application.
But I have enjoyed Klipsch for budget home audio, more so than Logitech. Logitech has come a long way, and I don't think they are a bad choice.
He is much better off spending the money for the $399 Klipsch system. I've compared them both. But you have to draw a line.....sooner or later you are better off getting a receiver....and going to a "real stereo"
