Good REALLY white rappers?

totally meant buck 65.. haven't listened to him in years but he was very creative i remember... and DZK what? no one mentioned DZK??

not everyone likes MN hip-hop. i for one cannot stand any of it. it's annoying because they know they have an extensive vocabulary and are just flaunting it for no reason. the word that comes to mind is pretentious. sure there's a niche for that but a lot of those kids are pretentious as well. in reality they are probably pretty damn vapid and just like to feel "smart" hearing that stuff. i would venture to guess you all like reading Kerouac too haha b/c hes like such an experimental writer. not saying this is you, Drew. it's just what i gather as a whole.

It's not just midwest hip-hop. most good hip-hop artists have an extensive vocab and they use it well. A lot of seattle artists do the same thing, and they are NOT pretentious whatsoever. I'd rather have a rapper sound smart than sound like a total dumbass like the vast majority.

word and i'm not a lil wayne advocate or anything to that effect. i've heard both sides of it though and used to be so into anticon and def jux artists and now that just does not do it for me. i mean what do you think of early-mid 90s east coast sound? very few of them used overly latinate diction and i guess that's my preference. the whole alternative movement is just so different. i do realize that a lot of people enjoy that to the classics though. none of the alternative stuff even came around until after Company Flow though which was 97'.

Army of the Pharaohs is a group of 10 rappers which the majority are black. However as i already said Apathy is white, Esoteric is White and Vinnie Paz is white.

hands down asher roth and mac lethal kill it, mac lethal is kinda cut throat, like i dotn give a fuck about life, and asher roth has this amazing flow, way better than eminem you cant even compare him to eminem

eminem has a terrible flow, hes either yellnig into the mic, or crying over his daughter, he has good lyrics but not a good flow, so yeah asher roth deff has a better flow than eminem

In response to Drew,
i consider myself a well-read person i just find that style excessive. it's not what i personally want to hear anymore in my music. a lot of the time i just detect a condescending vibe that bothers me in the music, but would not even begin to phase me if it was a book i was reading. what other artists of the genre do you enjoy though? i am curious b/c a lot the rhymesayers/doomtree fans that i have heard from only talk about those artists as though nothing else has or ever will exist. and i know i always bring it up b/c i have an affinity for the period, but what about all the great music coming out between 1993-97? those artists were not overly ornate.

and after listening to that POS song, i would say that is not my thing. i could never get down with that production b/c i like smooth melodic stuff. that just comes off abrasive to me. and it sounds as if POS is just talking at me. i guess we have different tastes in music is all.

hahah I know. he raps with doom on some stuff too (check hot guacamole from the mm..leftovers album, it's amazing).

he is awesome.

but dude...that's only the tip of the iceberg. 100s of other artists released albums during that time and very few of them sucked. that's like me saying, oh alternative rap sucks b/c atmosphere does not do it for me. i was into this stuff for long enough to have heard quite a bit of it and honestly can say it's not my thing. maybe you have listened to a lot of the music from the mids 90s and still feel the same way, but you would have to have listened to so many artists during that period. it was the most prosperous time during hip hop haha. this is a battle between two completely different periods. maybe we can't even compare them. maybe its not worth it.

i donno, you gotta draw the line between rap and reggae. I mean i love Matisyahu and hes reppin me as a jew, but i wouldn't call him a rapper

That's actually not true. He grew up around black people and apparently feels more like one of them, but both his parents were white.
