Good pair of light park skis?

I've been skiing a pair of 2012 K2 recoils and overall I thought they were pretty good. I ski a mix of park and groomed trails. Recently though, I've been getting more into park only skiing and have found the recoils to be a little heavy. I tend to stick to the rails as opposed to jumps but I would like to get more into jumps. So basically I'm looking for a pair of true park skis that are very light.

I am 5'9. 120 pounds.

Skis I've looked at so far: Line Afterbangs, Line Masterminds, Atomic Punx. Right now I'm leaning towards the Masterminds. Any thoughts?

lightweight skis wont make all the difference, if any honestly, but if your deadset on light skis, then look at Liberty LTE's, HG Stinger's, not the masterminds, Atomic infamous, Icelantic Da'nollie's, Kitten Factory Razrbladz, and Line futurespins. All of these skis except the Futurespins and LTE's have a wide underfoot for rails which

Hi

I wanted to see if anyone can help me out. I have been skiing for a while now but want to make a switch to smaller twin tip ski so I can hit the park more. I kept clipping my skis on boxes and rails and to buy a pair that would be good for the hill as well as small enough for the park. I am 6'1 185lbs. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as size or brand or whatever? I mainly want to have an idea of what size I should get.

thanks

Thanks!! I'm looking at the masterminds right now partially cause I found a great deal on last year's model. One big concern I have, though, is the quality of the masterminds. I have heard bad things about them breaking as well as heard about delam problems. I'm curious if these problems are mainly in the older models or if they occur even in the 2013's.

my friend got a pair of 2013 and broke 2 in 2 weeks at the beginning of the year... without even hitting rails. just a butter box. they are subpar for line and are just a pricepoint ski. look elsewehre because you will most likely just end up having to buy a new pair of skis after they break

Another really light ski from line is he future spin. It's pretty reasonably priced as well. If you want a really cheap ski that's pretty light look at the atomic infamous.

Looked at the future spins and really liked them. The problem is they make em in 137 and 147 in the shorty's and 167, 177, and 181 in the regular model. My ideal length is 157 which stinks cause they don't make em in that length.

At 5'9" you should be on much bigger than 157s. My girlfriend rides bigger skis. Go for the 177s. Lines run a little small I think.

factions candide 1.0!! they are made to be the lightest on the market . i believe theres a video about that tech on youtube...

157 is absurd. just cuz you dont weigh a ton doesnt mean you need skiblades. get the bigger ski because you will have more leverage from your height. 177 will be great

Really? I've always thought park skis were supposed to be shorter. Also, I tend to stick to the rails much more than jumps if that matters.

yes really. you will regret getting such tiny fucking skis when you will need to get a new pair halfway through the season. You want skis for park to be between your eyes and lip for intermediate, which is also a good length for rails if you are advanced.

I used to be the same way in regards to ski weight. I always wanted the lightest shit possible, I thought it would hold me back otherwise. Well, I was very wrong. I'm 5'9'' ~135lbs and this year went from 162cm (Probably before pressing, they were small) surface notimes -76mm underfoot and light as fuck, to 176 on3p filthy riches -88 underfoot and by no means light. Even as a jib oriented guy I notice no negative difference with the length. I've been able to huck front 4's off the tiny features that my early season park consists of, so let me tell you that the whole "swing weight" bs is a non issue. Longer skis feel way more comfortable and stable. Besides, 156's are literally junior length. If you're a young guy that's still growing that's even more reason to get longer skis; trust me, I made that mistake with my surfaces. Most of all I don't think a guy of your size would be able to properly ski downhill on such short skis. I love carving and ripping just as much as park and after these "longer" length filthies slay on the groomers. I half think I should have gone 181 because of the rocker...

Anyways the point of the matter is don't be a little jiblet that can't ski out of the park and get something longer.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind! I do have great skis currently for downhill and I'm not planning on getting rid of them anytime soon. So that's not as much of an issue but I am gonna consider longer skis.

If 164s feel long on you....you would have to be like a type 1 skier. Not hating, but those should not feel long at all. Buy the 177s and workout while you wait for them.

The only time they have felt long was when I was skiing in the park. Other than that, yea they're short. Preferably, I would go for about 167. The only problem is that I found what I think is an incredible deal on a pair of Atomic Punx at 155cm.

Do not get those you will hate them. I was skiing that size when I was 10. You should be at low to mid 170s. But if you want to waste a couple hundred dollars be my guest..

I personally would think so. What ski are you looking at? I'm 5' 10" 145-55lbs and I ride 179 k2s (actually 183s). It depends on how hard you are pushing your ski and what you want outa them.

I've been looking at a bunch of different skis but as of right now I'm really liking the Atomic Punx, and the Atomic Infamous. Also the Line Chronics. I probably won't be pushing them too hard considering they'll be my park only ski. I have a pair of k2 recoils that are ok in the park and I love them for downhill. The main reason I'm looking for a second pair is because the recoils are pretty heavy in the park for me.

If you really are worried about that weight....the punx are very light. Not too sure about the infamous but it's probably the same. I would go with the 176 because they do have a slight rocker in them.

Of the following skis, which would you guys recommend?

Atomic Punx, Atomic Infamous, K2 Domain, Line Chronic, Line Future Spins.

I'd also like to know what makes the Punx better than the Infamous.

You can knock the domains off your list. They are some of the most fun skis I have ever rode. But they are not the lightest, and since you are focused on weight I would cross those off.
