I have an iBook, has never crashed, and it looks cool, chicks dig it. I don't know what it has in it, It looks cool though, pretty cool, and it's white so it looks rad, and it looks really cool at night too..... smoke weed....
Alright first of all if your gonna get an Apple get a Powerbook. They are better than the iBook and are not that much more expensive. But it really depends on what you want to do with your computer on what you should get. Games - go with an Alienware, or a Dell because they are both very customizeable and good computers. If you want one to be really portable, Apples are good, but also a Dell. I wouldn't go with a Vaio. They aren't that great. Stick with Dell or Apple mainly. Alienware for games.
I have had an IBM laptop for the past 2 years, and it has treat me very well. I would recoment it to someone, this sepetember though im getting an iBook

He never said he had a price limit. Thats why I suggested Alienware. I would do with a desktop for games too, but maybe he really wants a laptop you never know.
he said video editing. and no matter what anyone tells you in here, it isnt about the maker. macs dont crash because you cant screw up the computer's OS. with a PC, you can screw it up by messing with stuff that shouldnt be messed with. i have a Gateway with Windows XP pro and it hasnt given me any problems. what you need for video editing is a high storage, high RAM machine. the best for this are desktops, but some notebooks are good enough. a good graphics card and a decent processor are also a plus. the best processor is not necessary though, so dont spend most of your budget on it.
sorry, i thought i clicked on the other thread about editing video. but yeah, same applies. its not about the maker, its about what you want to do with it. whatever you go with, make sure you can customize the options so you can put money into the parts you need.
