Good Idea?

Ok so my 360 got banned a year ago (hacked xbox) from xbox live. I could live easily without Live since I own a shit ton copied games. But now this is too much, I just want to play MW2 so badly... I'm in my christmas break and after skiing, I have nothing to do... So my friend told me like to buy an arcade 360 and put my HDD on it but its 200$ and i'm not sure if its going to work... So I came up with this idea : What if I buy a normal 360 at walmart, after like 2 days I put my banned xbox in the walmart xbox case with all the normal cables and everything and say something like "I received this for christmas and I don't like the 360 at all, can I be refunded?" I know they should refund me the xbox, but do they check if its hacked or whatever?
Thanks and +K for the serious answers!

its definately worth a try. they send it back to microsoft to be checked out and refurbished. they can fix it back up out htere and re-sell it. i don't see any problem with that plan. at worst, you will probably get store credit on a gift card, but you can prove that its legit to a friend and sell it to him for cash

Yeah but why would they send it back to microsoft? Its not broken or anything. And I think there is like a 1 month return warranty, so if I just say that I don't like it, after 2 days, they should just refund me without even sending anything back to micrsoft right?

it works all the time.

my friend even put a d-link router in a linksys box and return a dead d-link router for a brand new linksys.

in a nutshell, people at wal-mart are retarded.

you can go buy 8gb memory cards and put an identical looking 512mb card in and return it.....

its their own fault, but they will soon catch on and actually match serial numbers on the physical inventory and look at the box and ensure they are returning the same product they sold.

well they need to re-certify it so they don't sell someone a dead (or hacked) piece of crap

So if they send it back and microsoft says its hacked and banned, what will they do? They don't have my phone number or anything... And by experience, walmart always refund on the spot, they won't tell you like "come back in 2 week to see if you can be refunded"...

no they credit you the money, but its up to microsoft to fix it. your free and they assume responsibility for the machine. they can't do anything about it

Kk thanks alot bro, I will be heading there tomorrow, lets hope MW2 is well worth the trouble and the 60$ :)

I was thinking about doing this for my dead xbox, I even switched the serial code stickers and packaged it back up. But honestly I'm too nervous to do it.

My xbox is not dead... So if the tech guy wants to test it, he's welcome too. And seriously, how could you be nervous about returning something to Wal-Mart? I mean, I returned 5years old christmas decorations lights and they accepted to refund me (without receipt)... Keep in mind that the employee don't give a fuck about Wal-Mart just like you, most of the time taugh...

well i was actually returning it to target, but I don't know if I should tell them that i opened it and it didn't work..and they'll just get rid of it. or if i should say my parents got me one for xmas. but then if they put it back out and somebody else gets it and brings it back and says that it was broken do you think they would make the connection with me?? idk if its worth the trouble. i don't really need to steal it, i was just pissed about the warranty at the time.
