Good HD camera?

Ya so i have been searching around for a HD camera and was wondering if anyone has experianced one they really like for not to much money.

sony z1 is incredible but expensive. ask ATA what they use for hd

i strongly reccomend the panasonic ag dvc7 professional 1/4 inch ccd for maxium performance

Make sure you got a dank quad proc G5 with minimum 2 gigs of ram to edit on if you're gonna be shooting in HD.

HDR-FX1 is pretty good, don't get the sony HD camera the small one that's not 3CCD because unless it's not blue bird the shots aren't very good and it's horrible in low light

HDR - FX1 is dope, if your using it for skiing, no need to get the Sony HD with the nice audio... kinda pointless.

My dad has a jvc HD cam that came out shortly before the sonys, They are now down around 1000 I think, not positive, I just know they are way way cheaper than new sony or panasonics

right now I think the JVC HD100 is the best camera in the under $8,000 hd camera range.

go get an FX1 sony. its where its at. you can shoot a really dope 24 fps "look"

FX1 all the way unless you want to shoot true HD. Great cam for such a cheap price.

ok, our 3ccd 6 year old sony dcr-vx1000 broke, not actually but it was too expensieve to repair, so we invested our money in a fx1 and it is amazing. at the moment we can't edit in hd (no problem in dv, for little things), but we bought the camera from a semi-pro filmer which I know, who has everything for HD edits...but I hope in a year or so, it is easier to cut hd on your own "little" system...with blu-ray discs..and so on..invest in the future..hahahaha

^yeah you pretty much covered it. For now though HD is kinda pointless if your making a ski movie because no one will be able to watch it in the native format.

PM me or IM me if you want some advice on HD or HDV. I used an FX1 at my work and i just bought one to shoot ski movies. There is definately some technical things that you wanna know before you get involved with HDV. Tapes alone at 15 a piece....

you can shoot hdv on regular minidv tapes. without a noticable loss.

Really wouldn't make a difference if it's a quad or a double or a single. The RAM matters but FCP is not optimized for mutiple procs.

Based on affordability, the Sony FX1 would be your best option.

If you've got ching to spare go for the HVX200.
