Good Guy Nike

My day just got better after seeing this. Glad to see the skate community is finally getting some respect.

That commercial made me happy. Although there are a lot of 13 year olds on youtube that get into hissy fits when people try to kick them off the land that they own.

True. Respect gets respect though, and I think thats something that is starting to happen as the sport matures.

Cool ad; however, the majority of skateboarders are typically more disrespectful and destructive than someone running on the sidewalk.

This commercial is six fucking years old. Uploaded in 2007. Skate community is still getting fucked.

Glad everyone came late to the party though.

how can a six year old commercial make nike boss now? Nike has been pumping money into skateboarding for a long time. Its a shame they cut back on their skiing program as they could have helped out a lot of shredders.

this. I totally support the ad, but there is a reason skaters get treated like that. They shouldnt, and I know there are a lot of really great respectful skaters out there but its not like this stereotype just arose out of nothing.

I think it's the demographic associated with each of them. When's the last time you saw a runner acting like an immature jackass to police and other people around them after essentially destroying property? The average skateboarder isn't dropping big stairsets and gaps, they're chunking up small curbs and acting like children when they get confronted.

"ohhh no my curb, my beautiful curb! my uncomfortable concrete benches! my 3-foot handrails! they are ruined!"

i dont think anybody would complain if skaters stuck to skate parks. it's not the skating that people have the problem with, it's the destruction of property and loitering. plus, i'm sure people would have the same issues with running if runners were jumping up on your railings, kicking monuments, running through your gardens, etc. so i dont really understand what comparison is trying to be made in that video.
